Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a light orange amber color with a one finger head of white foam. The head fades rather quickly to leave a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is massive of a nice sweet tropical fruit smell with tons of pineapple, mango and tangerine. Along with these smells comes a bit of grapefruit and some light herbal and pine smells. Overall it is big and delicious smelling
Taste – The taste begins with a crisp tropical fruit taste that has a little bit of cracker malt. The tropical fruit is mainly of a tangerine and papaya mixed with a little bit of pineapple. Along with these flavors comes a little bit of an herbal and grapefruit hop. The hop starts out weaker in nature, but grows as the taste advances with the grapefruit getting just a touch stronger and the herbal getting even more so. All the while a little bit of an earthy and pine hop develop as well giving a little bit of dankness to the sweet and creating a nice crisp sipper overall.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the medium to thin side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather normal. For the mix of sweet and dank the feel is great and makes for a very easy sipping and flavorful brew.
Overall – A very tasty and crisp tropical IPA with a fantastic drinkability and feel.

Picked up a 6 pack of this at Berkeley Bowl in April. $12.99/6. Pours a slightly hazy golden to light copper orange color, 1/2" white head. Aroma was minimally hoppy. Wouldn't put in the mega double dry hopped super proprietary hop nose category, but you can tell that some dry hopping occurred. There's a medley of the old school pine and grapefruit notes from the Simcoe hop. They didn't really go with a true aroma hop, not sure what Azalea is, but it didn't offer much in the way of a hop nose.

Based on the taste and aroma, it seems like Chinook makes up the bulk of the hop quantity. There is more bitterness and old school hop notes than anything else. Which makes sense as to why this is around $2 a bottle when a lot of those juicy flaked trub bombs are $4-5 a can. There's a bit more caramel/crystal malt to this than I would prefer, just a heavier and stickier body than my game prefers. You could do worse. No off flavors. Softer carbonation than average, but still really close to the mean.

this is most excellent ipa, should have known from breakside, but this is really next level, a model to be followed even, and a beer i absolutely loved and could drink all day long, even with a pretty robust alcohol content, it drinks almost delicate, so fruity and clean at the same time, expertly crafted. real light in color with a little haze, but more almost unfiltered looking than intentionally dense, airy white head on it from the tap too, and nice carbonation throughout. the hop profile is really rad, maybe some amarillo casting a melony vibe through it, some galaxy possible too with that kiwi and lime compleixon, and then some obvious tangerine and grapefruit sort of citrus, maybe a citra and simcoe combination there or something, its hard to guess what all is in here, but its assembled in a way that is truly wonderful. a light resinous thing from the hops in the feel, but this stays real light to me somehow, dry hop driven but a little bitter pep at the end too, mellow body and bright caebonation, summery flavors and feels here, and i am almost surprised to see its as strong as it is. this is a very modern ipa, but its also kind of immediately timeless to me, so well made and inetresting in the hop profile without forcing anything. awesome beer, cant wait for my next one!

Had this on 2019-05-29 in Portland, OR at the Horse Brass Pub on tap.

Straw-orange with a 2-finger white head. Orange and grapefruit flesh and zest. Light pine and cracker. Grassy and earthy spine. Moderately bitter. Good nance. Quite enjoyable.

Picked up a single from the Craft Beer Hop Stop cooler on 5-28-18 for $2.49. No visible bottling date. Cold stored since purchase; consumed on 10-10-18.

Beer poured golden orange with a nice white head that is leaving lacing behind and has some good hang time.

Nose has hints of tropical fruits and citrus.

Taste is classic west coast ipa. Malt base was moderate and complimented by some grapefruit and mango. Nice light pine moderately bitter finish.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and refreshing.

Overall another solid IPA from Breakside!

Bottle poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours golden amber with a frothy pale tan head that settles to a light layer and leaves some nice lacing.

S: Stone fruit and tropical fruit up front, ripe citrus, floral, a little pine, bready malt, and caramel sweetness.

T: Citrus, tangerine, lemon, and grapefruit, tropical and stone fruit, passion fruit, apricot, mango, peach, mild pine, bready malt, and caramel sweetness.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation.

O: I really enjoyed this one. Nicely balanced IPA with a great hop profile.

Stay West pours a deep apricot color, with a nice head that sticks around, leaving some foamy lacing. The smell is fruity, not so much citrus as just general stone fruit. The flavor is a mix of apricot and citrus. There's some bitterness, but less than in most conventional West Coast IPAs. The mouthfeel is creamy, with good carbonation.

Overall, well, this is a good IPA, But I gotta bring up the price. At Chuck's CD in Seattle, I paid $4 for one 12 ounce bottle. So I was expecting something extra special. And Stay West is good, but it's not extra special. It's in the same ballpark as a lot of other Oregon/Washington IPAs, and it is not as good as many that cost half as much. So it's a poor value, even if it's a fairly good beer. I factored the value into my overall score.

Pours clear straw w thin foam head.
Very clean on the the point of being 'big-beer' bland. Prominent aftertaste is a lingering dryness on the tongue.
Disappointed in the beer, and even moreso given it's $12.99 a 6-pk. There are lot more hop-complex, interesting tasting IPAs in Portland alone, for under $10 a 6pk.

Bottle from ABV.

A clear light amber with a dense, off-white head that falls off to a ring rapidly leaving little lacing. The nose is quite excellent. Bright, pungent, with pine, citrus, some pith to go with the fruit notes. Malt character is minimal, present mostly as a dullish toast. The palate opens with a moderate bitterness, bright, clean and refreshing, a blend of citrus, pine and a little passionfruit. Again, a dull malt character with a little honey is present. Medium-light in body, moderately carbonated and with a bitter and fruity finish, this is solid.

A near perfect CA west coast style IPA, and thanks Breakside for giving props to it. Brilliantly clear light gold, big bubbly white head, tons of citrus and pine, clean, crisp, and bitter beer. The closest thing I've had to a Swami's in months! Cheers!
