holy cow this is good, unheralded and unexpected, great use of the fruit here, playing tart on tart, brilliantly done. super light hazy beer, small white head on it, unassuming though. the nose is a huge passion fruit pucker, as bright a nose as ive seen come from that fruit in a beer, up there with the crooked stave petit sour version, that alive and up front. the taste carries it too, with a more mature lacto character than most of these berliners have. its really dry and really tart, and the fruit shows really vividly through the light body. all the carbonation really helps deliver the pucker again and again each sip, and the clean finish leaves me thirsting for more. a beer i could sit down and drink gallons of. im not sure if this is distinct from the passion fruit sour ale i have seen on shelves, but this is at its heart a really nice berliner, accentuated beautifully by the fruit without a trace of sweetness. im a huge fan, and need to find some more. oh boy this was good from the tap, a perfect refresher.

16oz glass at brewery.
A: Served a slightly hazy dark golden with amber highlights beneath a thin, soft-looking, bright white head that quickly faded into a fuzzy film.
S: Sweet and fruity notes of tropical passion fruit dominates. Mango and papaya come through as well, but that's probably just the passion fruit.
T: Sweet, fruity, and mild (not cloying) passion fruit up front, crisp, grainy and crackery wheat in the finish. The aftertaste is like juicy fruit gum with a touch of syrup mixed with crisp wheat crackers.
M: Medium-full body, chewy mouthfeel, slick and splashy carbonation, drying and fairly crisp. Refreshing overall.
O: Incredible flavor, very juicy, light and unique. I would definitely drink this often.
