A- Pours with a spectacular eggshell colored head that is about two fingers in thickness and has excellent retention....also, this is dense and cloud like in texture! The brew itself is yeast hazed and mainly of a brown color, with muddied red hues in the background....its hard to tell how much carbonation is happening and as for lacing, well it is frothy and sticky on the side of the glass! Definitely a nice looking Ale!
S- Heavy malt sweetness is immediate on the nostrils, with bready-yeasty creaminess noted as well. There is some dry Earthy graininess about it as well and to finish things off, there is some moderate hop bitterness found right at the end. Perhaps throughout there is some citrus like fruitiness....again, nice!
T- Very much of a typical Irish Red, which is a very good thing! Dry roasted red malt is the biggest flavor happening with hits of yeast, dry biscuit, citrus rinds, nuttiness, and Earthy grains. The finish is clean and the bitterness is sharp and quick.....nothing offensive about this....perhaps just slightly mild for the style overall.
M/O- The body is surprisingly light and the carbonation is reasonably aggressive and palate scrubbing, which I'm thinking is contributing to the milder flavors that I taste. Overall, this is a nice beer, nothing substantial but very social and I would enjoy these over the course of an evening. Will try again!

Copper coloured beer with a sherbet nose on cask at 'spoons. This has a hose water flavour which gives way to a pleasant hazelnut informed aftertaste with a finish on the dry side.

500ml bottle - Dungarvan (the brewery, at least) sure does a swell job of illustrating its local historical landmarks.
This beer pours a slightly hazy, medium bronzed amber hue, with three fingers of puffy, densely foamy, and somewhat caked off-white head, which leaves some broad and sudsy archipelago lace around the glass as things quickly dissolve.
It smells of bready, crackery pale malt, a touch of biscuity caramel, wet ash, spiced autumn apples, subtle earthy yeast, and leafy, herbal, and mildly grassy hops. The taste is sharp apple and citrus fruitiness up front, with a sturdy grainy, biscuity, and lightly caramelized malt sweetness, damp smoke, dark toast, increasingly noticeable flinty notes, and more herbal, grassy, and leafy hop bitters.
The carbonation is nice and fizzy, frothy, and fully palate engaging, the body a solid middleweight, and mostly smooth, both the hops and minerality taking it down a few notches. It finishes off-dry, the gritty caramel malt and friends maintaining themselves better than any lingering hops.
I suppose that most of us have been beaten down by yer Smithwick's, et al, in terms of this style, so it's quite pleasant to taste a craft version of it. Lots of complex malt and hop interplay here, of the appropriate sort, which renders an easy to drink pub tipple - I would imagine, if I were in one right now, but it's equally good at home, by the same token.
