Oily black with ruby highlights and a cappuccino colored head that fades but rims and leaves trailers of lace. Straight black coffee with treacle and some charcoal.
Ash and sugar like burnt marshmallows, a coffee hit and fruit and wood hops.
Surprising caramel end and dry linger. Medium verging on thin, some chew and fizz.

Not notably coffee-influenced - don't be expecting Dark Star Espresso - and also not exceptionally smooth for having oatmeal added. Nothing wrong here, but it's not some rare seasonal you need to chase down. I heard this was amazing on cask; maybe it lost something along the way.

Appearance – Good black colour with a deep beige 2 finger head of tight bubbles. There is evidence of natural carbonation and some good lacing left in the glass.

Smell – Straight away there is great coffee aroma from the glass, as you would expect for something calling itself a coffee and oatmeal stout. The coffee aroma is towards the earthy espresso end of the scale and there is great aroma of malts and roasted barley.

Taste – Amazing earthy espresso coffee taste along with really good bitter hops, strong roasted malts. The oats really impart smoothness to the taste and there is also a tiny and I do mean tiny hint of sweetness and alcoholic nip.

Mouthfeel – Medium bodied with great linger but very smooth.

Overall – Really great flavour in this one. It has a bold front with a smooth linger and it goes down very easy. The yeast has been left in this one so it continues to condition in the bottle. This is not overly common in the UK and Ireland but very common in Belgium and it adds great flavour when cellaring a beer.
