Full Pint Brewing "Chinookie"
12 oz. brown glass bottle, "BEST BY SEPT11 2015"

Quite a nice IPA based around the three C's with Chinook coming through brightly. It's got a delicate, raspy pine quality that's backed by soft grapefruit, pineapple, apple, and berries. The malt displays a medium/medium-dark caramel character and a slight toasty graininess. Where other IPA's might go overboard on bitterness, this one is solid but not overdone (laughingly, the label reads "IBU 103.1" which would hardly be possible with a maltiness of medium girth - it's probably high 70's, maybe low 80's); but then again, the hop flavors aren't overdone either and there's enough, so it's kept in balance. Dry hopping is what really brings the hops through though, and they're nicely 'present' in the mix.

Looked forward to finding a really fresh bottle of this, and think that 07/21/15 is about as good as I am going to get. Full Pint is fairly local, and I have really enjoyed a couple of their dark beers. Poured amber with a finger of white head that left as quickly as it came. Slight haze and almost rosy hue in the light. Big, clean aromas of orange juice, ripe melon, and some subtle underlying pine. Flavors follow the nose, however, they get muddled together rather quickly and sadly. Crisp, but not overpowering bitterness on the end. Malt stands up to hop, yet I feel as though a bit more on the hop front may have been a benefit. Hint of residual sweetness on the finish. Good beer, not great beer. If you like more balanced IPAs, then this might be all right for you, if you like a hop bomb... look elsewhere.

An okay beer but not much to write home about. Taste was average as well as the other characteristics.

Pours a medium golden color with white head. Some citrus, grapefruit definitely, and a little pine and grass on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a little resinous hop flavor.

From BeerAdvocate Magazine #76 (May 2013):

A good IPA, boasts 103.1 IBUs ... pretty insane and tongue scraping from sip to sip. A true hophead’s brew that perhaps is looking for a bit of pain as it slowly tries to wreck the palate.

STYLE: American IPA
ABV: 6.2%
AVAILABILITY: Year-round

LOOK: Brassy hue, sudsy topping

SMELL: Citrus zest, minty, slightly dank, mild tobacco, earthy, stone fruit

TASTE: Very smooth, creamy, very aggressive hoppiness, solid bitterness, leafy, pipe tobacco, grassy

A: slight cloudy light amber hue, determined by a light-mid lovibond crystal and pilsner malts. With a hard pour, there's a thin lacy head that lingers but threatens to break until the end.

S: delightful expected aroma of a grapefruit tree and flowers amidst christmas trees. Smell works with taste.

T: taste similar to my impression of aroma. slight abrasive bitterness up front, which Im not crazy about, but gives way to a pleasant sweet floral flavor.

M: a bit oily, but smooth and not too heavy. Easy to drink.

O: another PA beer I'm quite happy with. I'm new here so I'm not sure if others have said this but this makes an excellent substitution for SN celebration ale. I would buy more of this.
