A: Dark sepia-brown pour has a thin, milky, dark walnut toned head that is rather short lived. Thin, spacious and speckled lacing has large voids of open opportunity.

S: Rich chocolate, smooth caramel-coffee roast, with an milky almond like nuttiness.

T: Flavor is bitter earthy chocoalte roast, a bit burnt, sweetened up by the presence of some caramel and dry creamer. Bitter coffee on the leave has a flavor that is a bit linear thereafter. Decent lingering finish but in terms of complexity it is the coffee that is the one most staged here.

M: okay, a bit slick and oily in texture with a near medium body, nil carbonation. Doesnt do much or attributes much in the end.

O: Overall an all right coffee stout, a bit thin substance wise, good strong coffee presence if that is your only concern, thereafter may be a bit of a letdown.

Split a 12 oz bottle with waldo567 at room temp.
The beer is poured into a pint glass and gives minimal beige head that fades to nothing fairly rapidly.
Color of the pour is a clear brown hue which allows plenty of light to pass through the glass.
Aroma is rich roasted malt with some coffee grinds and a hint of malt sweetness, almost a brown sugar hit.
First sip reveals an easy drinking, mild carbonated beer with smooth texture.
Flavor is sweet malt and then some roasted notes followed by just a hint of coffee-like bitterness.
No real hops that I pick up anywhere.

I do enjoy this beer and was kept up a little later than anticipated, probably due to any caffeine in the beer.

Well crafted beer that is simple straightforward, and good.

would buy again if I found it.

12oz bottle poured into standard pint glass. Best by Sept 2013.

Looks very nice indeed. Black with hints of brown when held up to the light, thick tan colored head. The head dissipates after a while, leaving thick lacing. This lacing eventually sinks, but stays above the body of the beer.

Not getting much on the nose. Faint hints of coffee, but mostly malty, a "portery" aroma

Taste was interesting. Quite smooth, very present coffee flavor, which was nice. Quite smooth, just a hint of that coarse porter burn.

Mouth was full, and it was pleasant rolling that coffee around in the mouth.

Overall, a pretty decent offering. Nowhere near the best porter out there, but far from the worst. A good solid beer.

12 oz.

Pours opaque black, dark brown tinge around the edges, with a couple inches of tan head that takes a good bit of time to dissipate.

Smells of roasted coffee and a little oak and smokiness.

Flavor is of strong black coffee and woody malts. A bit of vanilla and cocoa in there.

Full body with light velvety carbonation on the roof of the mouth.

Potent porter, good flavor, a bit forceful but enjoyable. Could stand a bit of balance and the aroma is a little vegetal for my liking. Otherwise very good.

This brew pours a black color with a thin mocha head which dissipates quickly. Very little lacing on the glass. A little cloud of the original head stays on the top of the brew until the end.

The smell is strong with coffee, burnt coffee, roasted malts.

The taste is strong bitter, burnt coffee. There are also, roasted/burnt malts. There is also a dry, wheat like taste. The burnt coffee is too much 'in your face' therefore overpowering any other tastes that might be in the brew.

The mouth feel is smooth and creamy but there is also the feel of burnt coffee grinds; that is what I am feeling.

Overall this is not very well balanced, too much bitter coffee and not enough of anything else. This is not the best porter I have tried.

Lot 303

Dark brown color with a short lived head that manages to boast webs of wide lace.

The aroma is simple - roasty dark malts with meager coffee notes. The malt has small touches of grainy complexity; it seemed to have an oat smoothness that I reckon is the wheat. The taste is tangy and roasty but, unfortunately, with a lacking for coffee. As is, it's a competent, average sort of semi-chocolatey porter. Puffy carbonation hits hard against a hungry body; the feel isn't as plush as I might like.
