Nice drinkable brown, not to complex but real "familiar".

No bottling date. Probably a couple months old judging by similar bottle stock at the store.

A: Pours a very nice dark brown. Good sized airy light brown head. Decent head retention. No real sign of lacing whatsoever.

S: A little but of caramel and a touch of nuttiness and toast. Maybe a hint of butter?

T: More of the same. A bunch of caramel with a touch of toast. Some nuttiness, especially in the middle. Swear it tastes like butter on the back end. Some diacetyl (sp?) maybe?

M: Fairly light but smooth.

O: A very simple brown ale. Super low ABV, definitely meant to be a session brown ale. As such the flavors are pretty subtle but honestly not bad. There is that butter flavor which is not overpowering and honestly isn't horrible but it's definitely a bit off. It's not bad overall but nothing I'd seek out again.

This is perhaps the most perfect Brown Ale to ever grace my tastebuds. Honestly, the only thing negative about this beer at all is that it is slightly too carbonated.

More like a stout than the typical brown ale with deep notes of chocolate and coffee. And yet it is subtly drinkable. Unlike a heavy stout, I could easily drink 4-5 of these session brown ales back to back.

Nice dark color, somewhat like cola, with a light tan head that leaves lacing on the glass. Funky nutty nose, some leafy and caramel notes, also a hint of meat broth. Taste expands and opens, with caramel and darker flavors, perhaps some mushroominess, and though it ends a bit flat, it is smooth, as the label promises. Clean, very slightly astringent mouthfeel. Hard to believe this is only 3.8% ABV. I wish I could get this closer to where I live. A delight. Bottle date reads 061716/476; enjoyed on 26 July 2016.

Purchased from Triangle Wine in Morrisville NC for 12.99 in a 64 oz Growler.

ABV listed in store was 4.5% not 3.8% ?

Tastes great, great smoky/nutty taste and finishes real clean...nice bitterness and very light tasting overall...impressed considering i bought it from a store in a growler.

not trying to come off like an advertisement but Triangle Wine has a insane beer collection, easily over 3000 different beer singles in stock and a great cold growler selection....and Nantahala Brewing is well represented...good quality growlers.

what i didnt like about this beer?...its a bit expensive and it has a slightly weird aftertaste...other than that no real complaints.

recommended if you like brown ales.

Growler poured into a Duvel tulip. See-thru medium molasses body. A thick cap of light tan head is in no hurry to go anywhere. Plentiful lacing, too.

Pleasantly toasty and grainy nose with hints of cocoa and light sweetness. Surprisingly bold and flavorful brew. Quite bitter with a hop character that hits leafy, citric and tealike territory. Plenty roasty and toasty. A juicier feel than one might expect, but it finishes with a nice lingering light roast. Very nice brown ale.
