12/19/17 - Day trip to LA Beaches and caught two places for excellent brews. This was my first stop. Nice bar, great bartender, excellent tap options. A bit pricey on pours, though they have some excellent hard to find offerings from brewers like Bottle Logic. Ordered a $12 pretzel, tasted good but very small for the price. Had three great beers, overall great place with great service and plenty of great pours.

One of my favorite spots in Santa Monica. Nice, rotating selection of craft beers... Many local. Also love the sports bar atmosphere!

Perfect. Father's office without burgers and smugness.

Yet another relatively new gastropub in Los Angeles. When I first gave it a go a couple months ago, they had only a couple beers on draft and maybe 100 in a fridge, but nothing too exciting. The food was okay, a bit pricey, and nothing too special. How things have changed over the course of a few months.

When I went back to give it a second shot, I was pleasantly surprised that the huge refrigerator had been replaced with 24 taps. Imagine my excitement to see that Abacus was on that night-it was absolutely one of the finest beers I have ever had. They keep a good tap rotation going, with a healthy range of styles and breweries, both local and national. The food also got a makeover. I don't remember what I ate the second time there, but I distinctly remember it being better than what I had the first time. The one drawback for me is a shortage of vegetarian items, but meateaters should have a field day. All in all, a bit pricey, but there's not much that isn't around these parts. Look forward to going back soon.
