Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.40%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Hopulent IPA is a big beer with lots of complex malt flavor and excessive hops. This beer will have changes to the grain bill and seasonal hop changes. The character of Hopulent IPA is over the top, too much of everything—a real HOP HEADS DELIGHT!

Had this on nitro and gave it a very unique, to me, feel and flavor profile. The bitterness and smooth nitro make it almost a dry Hopped cream ale. Really tasty and good.

Pours a clear gold with plenty of foam that lasts and does well with the lacing.

The smell is is a mix of caramel malt and grain with the hops well represent by pine.

Even Steven on the first few sips between the malt and hops but I notice the alcohol kick more. The malt is sweet but also has a grain like character to it. The hops have pine but to me, it has more of an aspirin like bitterness.

Close to full bodied with medium carbonation.

This is decent but a rather difficult beer to drink not only taste wise but because the alcohol is intrusive. I am not likely to revisit.

Overall, a little underwhelming. Not bad, by any means, but frankly didn't have the full body or flavor to really justify the DIPA label.

On Nitro: Served up a hazy orange, with half finger head, settled into thin cap, nice lacing. Lighter pine and citrus hop aroma, not much else...certainly not what was expected from a DIPA. The beer had a strong pine hop taste...Almost too much pine for my taste. The hops are so overwhelming I can't taste anything else. The beer had a heavier feel, extremely smooth, very bitter aftertaste.

Overall, maybe slightly better than average DIPA.
