Appearance-Yellow to pale gold out of the glass with a foam that dissipates quickly.

Smell-The name is pretty self-explanatory. I get a lot of sour apples and not a whole lot else.

Taste-Sour apple, bitter stone fruit.

Mouthfeel-Good light body and a long finish.

Overall-If I'm drinking beer on a hot day, it needs to be something like this.

Big thanks goes out to beermeX2 for sharing this one with me! Served from bottle into a Mikkeller flute. Poured straw yellow with a half finger pure white head that subsided to a minimal amount slowly. Maintained excellent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, grain, spices, banana, and sour apple. The flavor was of sweet malt, grain, spices, banana, and sour apple. It had a light feel on the palate with mild carbonation. Overall this was a good brew. When I saw the name on this one I was a little concerned on how the sour apple flavors would mix with the Saison spices. However, much to my surprised they actually blended quite well together. The brew was very smooth and drinkable which was a nice touch. The aroma was very good with the sour apple definitely making its presence known. Really glad I got the chance to try this one.

Green apple hue with a thin white lace of head. Nose of green apples and funky saison notes. Spicy yeast and clove with an overall earthiness.

Sweet green apples up front followed by classic belgian flavors of candy, clove and spice. Finishes with a puckering green apple tartness. Mouth watering and very very good. Lingering sweetness. A complex and well layered in-your-face saison. Slaps the tongue around and your tongue asks for more. At 8.1% it's pretty damn dangerous. On the fuller side of medium bodied with gentle carbonation. Theres a richness to the body with being too heavy. Just picked up a little bit of a nuttiness to the beer.

Please resist drinking this beer cold, it really does open up magnificantly at room temperature.

SIDE NOTE Mix half sour apple saison and half Brainless on peaches and you have a pretty nice dried fruit refreshing beer in your cup!

Poured from bomber to tulip, served along side four cheese Pizza Rolls:

Pours a nice hazy pale gold with a finger of expanding white head. The sourness really translates well through the nose plus a mix of clove, banana, ester, the base beer smells lovely. The taste is excellently balanced - all the staple characteristic of a good saison topped with a tart/sour blend of sweet fruits. Very refreshing beer. I'd definitely recommend this one. All 4's.

Release number 6 7.8% abv

Pours a pretty pale yellow color with a white head that falls fast with spotty lace.

Aroma is nice malts lightly spicy and fruity with a touch of wet hay funk.

Taste is man nice carbonated malt with good dose of funk right from the start. Moves to lingering sour apples and pears with peppery spice playing out in the dry finish. Even some spicy hints of the alcohol in the finish as it warms the tummy but not not in the distracting way.

Mouthfeel is light with pretty peppy carbonation true to style.

Overall little tarter and sharper then most Saison's but found it enjoyable and well priced as a bonus.

22 ounce bottle, picked up at Vintage Estates, poured into a Bruery tulip.

A: Pours a hazy light golden color, completely opaque, with a big frothy bone-white head on top that dissipated fairly quicly but held on to a thin lacing around the surface and edge of the glass.

S: Bready yeast, a touch of cloves, lemon zest, and yes, a hint of sour apple. The apple is present, but not pungent, in the nose.

T: The sour apple is certainly more pronounced and distinct in the flavor. It's right there, immediately discernible. And they're really on to something here, as it works nicely with the wild yeasty-lemon flavors of the saison. I just feel like they may have overdone it just a bit.

M: Light and lively, with great carbonation, this beer is refreshing and doesn't finish overly dry for all of the sour/flavor that it has.

D/O: An enjoyable brew. The apple, although a bit more present than it needed to be, probably helped with drinkability for me. I would have another.

Pours a hazy yellow color with a white head. In the aroma, earthy and sour apples. In the taste, dry green apples, a bit yeasty and a nice dry sourness. A small sour bite and medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a dry green apple in the aftertaste. Dryer than I would expect, but quite nice.
