Notes / Commercial Description:
A full strength and quaffable American lager with a hint of European flavor. Pfeifferhorn lager has a subtle malt flavor, and clean, crisp finish. A fine spicy and slightly herbal noble hop profile which barely lingers on the palate.

Chill haze and pale yellow with a proudly standing white froth.

Has a complex aroma for a lager. Mostly grass, faint spice, faint candy, and a ton of light fruits and herb.

Waves of grain and hops across the tongue followed by flavors of orange, lemon zest and a drop of honey.
Dry and crisp through and through.

One of the best lagers I've had in a long time, and could see myself killing quite a few of these this summer if they were readily available here.

22oz from the brewery, approximately $3.75 into my SA Perfect Pint.

A: Pale gold in color, billowy dense white head, excellent lacing, excellent clarity, and great head retention. Nice looking beer.

S: Pilsner malts, a bit of sulfur from the yeast is what I can imagine. slight little bit of spicyness from a noble hop variety. Smells pretty balanced.

T: Pilsner malts, and a little bit of a hoppy bite at the end. Very floral hops in the finish. Very low bitterness. By no means boring, just pretty non-descript for a lager. Still better than a macro lager. Definite graininess. Decent.

M: Light body, nice dry finish, nice carbonation. Spot on.

D: I could drink quite a bit of this, nothing astounding, nothing ground breaking, just a solidly made American lager. Definitely a gateway beer, as just about anyone that's ever had a beer could enjoy this. Nicely done.

Poured from a bottle into a pilsner glass.

Look - light golden color, hazy, with about a finger and a half's worth of an almost orange hued foam that dissipates slowly.

Smell - a bit hoppy, but with a hint of a pilsner type of smell and maybe a hint too of citrus.

Taste - a bit of a pilsner taste at first, but that quickly morphs into a muskier taste with a faint citrus backbone.

Mouthfeel - pretty well balanced, but leans a tinsy bit more on the watery side.

Overall - not a bad tasting brew, and fairly interesting to think about.

stoked to try this one courtesy of mnbearsfan

pours a surprisingly buttercup yellow (sounds nicer than urine, yes?) clear with a frothy white two-finger head that fades quickly but leaves some decent frothy lace.

aroma is bready with notes of straw, wet hay, oatmeal. hops aren't very bright, but there's a bit of green hop spice.

taste is light (expectedly) with a solid bready malt profile accentuated by some spicy herbal hops. grassy, tastes like hay with some pepper and a touch of bitter greens. a bit of odd white sugar sweetness. not sure I'm loving it, but it's got a ton of character for a pale lager, which I think is worth something.

mouth is decent. moderate body with ample carbonation keeps things lively, with a touch of astringency and a bit of lingering bitterness.

all in all, I'm liking this one. an interesting brew that definitely has some character. Not really loving it, but I would certainly drink it again if it was regularly available. it would make an awesome craft lawnmower beer.

A: a masterpiece. A huge, billowing head, great lacing. A hazy. strawlike yellow. Very appealing.
S: fragrant notes of bread and grain are at the forefront. I am also picking up hints of grass and citrus in the background.
T: as the nose indicated, this brew starts out slightly sweet and malty. However, a decent amount of support is lended by bittering hops toward the middle and back. Slighty more rustic than the nose indicated. No frills, decent balance.
M: medium to high carbonation and medium bodied. Silky on thethe tongue. This brew is smooth, crisp and refreshing. A decent bite at its back and a balanced hang.
O: i really enjoyed this brew. A straight ahead, no frills lager that brings some decent flavor to the table. Highly quaffable.

22 oz bomber served into a shaker pint glass.

Appearance: This one pours an almost clear light yellow. The head thinned as I drank it, but did not completely go away.

Smell: Being a pale American lager, this one has a pretty straight forward smell. Budweiser wishes that they could smell this good. I can smell some mild malts and some nice mild noble hops. I think this might be Saaz, but I am not sure.

Taste: Very subtle, mild taste here. I usually like more complex beers. This does only a few things, but it does them well. I think a bud drinker might be eased into craft brew with this one. Perfect for the style. Just the slightest bittering.

Edit: After a few more of these, I have realized that this is one of the most delicious pilsner-type lagers I have ever had. The taste is so flavorful for an American Pale Lager. This is one of my favorites from this brewery. They have made a great beer here.

Mouthfeel: The carbonation is just right for this beer, prickly without being overbearing. The finish is not long but pleasent, and not much aftertaste.

Drinkability: I could drink several of these easily. As I said above, you could bring these to any friends BBQ and easily outshine the BMC they might be drinking.

From a 22oz bomber to a pint glass, served at 35F and drank in the course of yard work on an 85F day.

Reminds me of the lagers from some of the larger breweries in Germany. Almost exactly like a Radeberger.

A - Buttery golden body, nice layer of head that dissipates quickly, lazy carbonation.

S - Biscuity with a little herbal tinge.

T - Decent enough, nothing special I care to relate.

M - Nice except for the funky aftertaste that most euro lagers seem to evoke if you drink enough of them. Too bad Epic couldnt splice that out...

3 fingers of foam that kept present for a long while after pour. Tempting golden look in the glass, clear and clean with very little carbonation bubbling.

Smell was distinct, more sweet than expected but still notes of spice and bread.

Taste of spicy notes quickly erased any sweetness on the nose. Impressive character, light carbonation making it a bit too easy to drink. Enjoyable - was good on a very hot day and perfect with a burger. Loses just a bit on the finish, doesn't retain the same character and spice after drinking but not so thin as to ruin this beer for me. I'll have another.
