Had this on 2016-12-25 in Lititz, PA from a 22oz bottle.

Top notch Imperial Stout. Rich dark chocolate, vanilla, roasted grain, oak, caramel and earthy spice. Delicious.

Poured from 22oz bottle into a speiglau barrel aged glass.

Look is pitch black with a half inch tan head.

Arowma is lots of chocolate and vanilla from the bourbon.

Taste is like a bourbon milkshake absolutely delicious.

So good.

Tasted it at the brewery. Reviewing late so unsure on the batch number. Thick and luscious, black but no head. Boozy with layers of chocolate and coffee on the nose and similar on taste.

Release #78. Pint glass. Very dark (but not motor-oil opaque). Almost no head. Initial impression is dark chocolate, coffee, and whiskey. Slight sweetness initially which is gradually replaced by a mild bitterness in the finish. There is some oak in there too, which becomes more evident as it warms. Medium-thick, creamy mouthfeel. The 12.6% ABV is very well hidden, making it scandalously easy to drink. It's reasonably priced (well, if you consider $11.50 a bottle reasonable), fairly easy to find, and absolutely delicious. Highly recommended.

T: deep coca sweetness and coffee bitterness. whiskey is not up front but lingers in the back. hot.
F: thick, velet.
O: KBS by a different name. The price (bomber for $12) and and availability make it a steal. grab one.

Batch #41 from the Denver Brewery. Packaged on 10/17/14. Aged in temperature controlled setting.

Poured into a CCB snifter. Pours thick with a small mocha head. Nose of vanilla and chocolate.

Chewy chocolate brownie flavor. Rich vanilla with a hint of pressed coffee. Some of the coffee has waned but is to be expected with aging. Roasted barley is present but blends well with the overall flavor. Carbonation is a tad much for the style but does not impede on the style or palate as the body remains fairly full. Alcohol is present but smooth and creamy, so although it is a sipper, it goes down easy.

Very drinkable and tasty barrel aged stout. If I recall correctly, I found this easily and it wasn't expensive considering it is barrel aged. I made a note when I drank this fresh it was good but a bit hot, so a touch of aging, at least for this batch, did it some good. I wish I tried this about six months ago as the coffee note may have had more punch. I digress. With that said, if you find this, buy a few bottles and experiment with aging. For the price, it wouldn't be a huge investment and it is tasty beer even with the alcohol heat. Definitely try this, especially if you are a fan of imperial stouts aged in whiskey/bourbon barrels. You will be satisfied.

A real beast with some smoked blue cheese.

Pours dark
Almost no head
Aroma loaded with coffee and slight hint of bourbon.
Taste malty with a very pleasant finish.
The bourbon is not overpowering which is partly why I like it so much. I definitely recommend.

Smell: big expresso coffee whiskey fudgy chocolate vanilla coconut black berries.

Taste: upfront the beer is super smooth there's an initial fudgy chocolatey sweetness in the mid palate your getting a super smooth cold brewed coffee vanilla coconut in the finish is where the barrel is really present you get some oakiness and some whiskey heat but not overpowering it actually really adds to the complexity off the beer.

Feel: This is a perfect mouth feel it's full and chewy but some how the beer stays super smooth and creamy and it goes down really smooth.

Overall: this beer is extreamly balanced the flavor isnt overally aggressive but that's alright it's made up for with the great mouth feel and by how nice the beer smells. I would put this beer in the world class category and for the price it's definitely worth trying.

Very dark appearance with little head and just the right amount of carbonation. The aroma is a combination of bourbon and coffee. The very pleasant bourbon and coffee flavor with a hint of alcohol. A little aging should improve this beer.

Incredible stout, very well balanced and filled with a perfect combination of chocolate coffee and bourbon. Some people are commenting on a boozy taste but I think the ABV is very well hidden. A great nose on this one also. Two thumbs up

Bottle to snifter.

LOOK: dark black, full, tan head,
AROMA: is lots of cocoa, barley and bourbon are also well represented.
TASTE: chocolate, ash, whiskey.
FEEL: smooth, touch of ash4, dryish , powder.

Really nice stout. Very impressed.

Hate the use of the word "Epic" which is way overused, but this is a tasty brew.

Thanks so much to my brother for sharing this enjoyed chilled in a snifter.
The color is black with opaque clarity and thin tan head after settling. The smell is great -sweet smell of malt with cocoa and coffee with a slight wood essence of bourbon with mild roast aroma and earthy spice. The feel is incredible -smooth as hell for 13%, mostly dry in the finish however full of body with medium carbonation and low alcohol effect on the palate.

An amazing, well crafted beer. I am drinking batch #69 at 12.3% and what a great treat it is. Pours pitch black, very thick and with hardly any head when poured down the center. The smell on this beer hits with sweet chocolate and maple right away, followed by the coffee and you definitely get a bit of the bourbon alcohol on the nose as well. Taste: Very pleasant, I taste everything I smell. First get hit with that slight bourbon taste, then everything else comes into play. The mouth feel is magnificent, it's so smooth, creamy and thick. The beer overall is just fantastic. I will be going back to get some more. A couple for this winter around Christmas time, and a couple to cellar. Very highly recommended.

Smells and tastes smooth and energetic with coffee and cocoa flavor. For my taste, I thought it carried a strong acidic finish (because of the coffee and cocoa), but still a great stout. Wonderful hint of bourbon, not overpowering.

Pours super thick - the first thing I look for in a barrel aged stout - it leads me to think the mouth feel will be quite pleasant. Midnight black with very nice lacing.

Smell like coffee, chocolate, maple syrup, bourbon and oak.

Tastes like like it smells. Very balanced!

Super great feel and thick. This is the epitome of what the mouthfeel on a barrel aged stout should be.

This is definitely a competitor to KBS, and with that being said, I seem to like this better than KBS. Especially the mouthfeel and the thickness of the stout.

After hearing a lot about this one but never having seen it in the flesh, I was visiting a different part of the country and discovered that this was one of the local shelf turds. Odd, and fun. So brought it home to share with a buddy. And...Disappointing.

It smelled okay -- dark chocolate, coffee, and a hint of bourbon barrel. But the pour looked thin and fizzy. The mouthfeel followed suit -- thin, fizzy, a little sharp with bitterness not balanced by sweetness as I had expected. Neither as full nor sweet as KBS (which isn't all that sweet as it is) and nowhere near BCBS and that lot.

All that said, I wish this was a shelf turd in FL but alas, we don't get BA stouts down there like they do in the PNW. Maybe one day!

This one lived up to the ratings. It poured thick and fragrant, and the taste was very satisfying. You can smell the ingredients, and then they are subtly there in each taste. The alcohol doesn't overpower the flavor, and this one finishes very pleasantly.

pouring this at 35 degrees celsius. little to no head. smell is delicious. loads of coffee and bourbon. initial taste is chocolate and a hint coffee. then a very alcoholic taste plows its way through to end off on a taste that is like those chocolate covered espresso bean. mouthfeel to me for a BBA beer feels a little over carbonated. i like that sludgy feeling. overall, great beer

BTW, this batch is 12.8% abv

Shared a bomber for my bros' 21st BDay.

L: Pours pitch black with a lighter colored tan head that dissipates quickly

S: Nose is great. Strong coffee, dark chocolate and whiskey barrel.

T: Follows the nose, big chocolate, oak, coffee forward. Whiskey barrel is definitely present, and I really enjoy that. Pretty boozy.

F: Just right. Along the same lines as KBS and Parabola. Not too thin, but not as thick as some of the same style.

O: Great beer, very enjoyable, whiskey barrel becomes even more prominent with warmth. Love the big coffee and chocolate here.
