I was intrigued by this beer since it was something i would imagine is similar to the New Glarus "fruit" beers. If they are like this beer I don't think I am ready for that style.

Appearance: Fairly ruby red with some brownish notes, virtually no head.

Aroma: First thing I noticed was an overly boozy nose and not much in the fruit category. I felt like this beer was too estery, and more like a generic Belgian ale with fruit juice added to it.

Taste: Like mixing a little bit of the cran-raspberry juice from the supermarket juice aisle with a mediocre Belgian style ale.

Overall: Very much let down with this beer considering the price. It was too boozy and not very complex. I shared it with a friend and they pretty much agreed with this assumption.

Release #11. Poured from a bomber into a snifter, the beer is a hazy, opaque, peach-orange coloring with a filmy, sparse surface coating of head. That, of course, is after the absolute gush from the bottle upon opening. Aromas of subtle tart raspberry, a bready backbone, subtle spice blends, bubble gum, and hints of vanilla. Flavors are very tart raspberry forward, real fruit flavors, with a sugary sweet core. Wow, this is like chewing on the actual fruit. Booze kick underneath, with some tangy and funky yeast notes, subtle clove and all spice blend, and a bready backbone. The increased carbonation gives the body a sharpness, almost astringent character, but that does well to keep the sweetness in check. The aftertaste is a blend of tart raspberry and sugary notes, with creamy highlights ducking in and out, too. Sharp, dry, crisp finish. This is a sipper, and it's interesting.

The beer pours a nice creamy white head that dissipates very quickly. The beer itself is a very cloudy and hazy medium orange with light ruby notes. The overall look isn't very pretty and kind of unappealing to a certain extent but it still looks nicer than one would expect for a fruit beer.

The smell is pretty simple. The beer has a nice tarty raspberry smell to complement the sweeter and slightly sugary Belgian style yeast. The smells a re pretty balanced and doesn't come out the artificial mess or a watered down smell that plague some fruit beers. Rather, the beer smell has character that show up pretty well.

The beer taste is pretty good all things considering. The stronger notes are the belgian yeast notes who are a bit earthy and also give off a slightly sweet bubblegum flavor. The raspberry is surprisingly strong and not artificial tasting. The fruit's tartness works well to contain the bubblegum flavor of the yeast. Overall, the beer taste is one of the best ones I've had from a fruit a beer, and that is saying something.

The mouthfeel is surprisingly thick and heavy for a fruit beer. The beer has very little carbonation. The beer feels thick and slightly syrupy as it goes down, and not very refreshing. In fact, the beer leaves my mouth a little sticky.

Overall, a pretty decent/good fruit beer. I was very surprised at the flavor and enjoyed it.
