Notes / Commercial Description:
A prominent to intense hop aroma with a citrusy, floral and/or fruity character derived from American hops. Color ranges from medium gold to medium reddish copper. Medium-high to very high hop bitterness, although the malt backbone will support the strong hop character and provide the best balance. A decidedly hoppy and bitter, moderately strong india pale ale.

Poured from a regal looking 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

A - A moderate pour yields about 3 finger offwhite head. This leads me to think it may be a bit overcarbonated. On the end of the pour some floaties came out. Bottle conditioned or sediment? Lacing is almost nonexistent.

S - Sweet and hoppy.

T - Don't get much malt sweetness.. mostly bitterness and alcohol.

M - As suspected, a bit overcarbonated. Amplified the alcohol and bitterness

O - Nothing too special about this IPA

Picked this beer up at the local ABC. It has been on sale for 7.99 so instead of splurging I have been trying to decide if I like this brewery.

Appearance: A pretty dark amber color. As I noted the color I wondered if it was dim in the room, since the beer's dark amber color surprised me. Decent structured head with a vigorous pour.

Smell: Hints of a piney/citrusy hop aroma but nothing to write home about.

Taste: Initially there is some hop bite, but this is well balanced by a malty body. This could be a good thing if you are looking for a nice drinkable beer. This could also be a bad thing if you are analyzing this beer as an IPA. While it is an IPA, in a sense, it is really more of a crowd pleaser for the likes that are not used to a strong hops presence.

Mouthfeel: Thin but not watery. A bit of a bite to the taste but no truly lingering bitterness.

Overall I like this beer, but it does not blow me away. Lately, due to the summer heat of Florida it is nice to find low ABV "IPAs" that have a lot more flavor than the average bad beer, yet is still light and refreshing.

No, it is probably not a great specimen of an IPA, but is by no means a bad beer.

Pegasus IPA is OK. It's like an adjunct IPA. To compare; Goose Island Ten Hills Pale, with the same ABV, leaves Argus' entry choking, sputtering, and gasping for breath!!! I know they're a "green" brewer, but it appears that their brewing talent is a bit "green" as well! Keep trying, Argus, but at your price point for a 6-pack, your product will spoil on the proverbial shelf...
