Served in a Chicago Bears shaker pint glass.

Watchin' some 40oz Crew vids on the YT and drinkin' some Argus...good times... This stuff pours a clear sunrise tawn topped by a finger of cream-white foam. The nose comprises orange zest, coriander, and light-but-sharp black pepper. The taste brings in more of the same, with the pepper coming in toward the finish, while the orange and coriander (and a touch of mild wheat) roam freely, unsupervised. The body is a light medium, with a very light moderate carbonation and a lightly creamy feel. Overall, a nice little red, nothing too special, but eminently drinkable and generally enjoyable.

Less than one finger of head, ok bubling that shows through a bronze and copper colored amber brew. I like the color a lot.

Just a little grass and toasted citrus peels in the aroma. After that, its all toasted malt caremel, cracker, biscuits, and bread crust.

The taste has lots of grainy malt sweetness. A little caramel mixed with Wonderbread crusts somewhat tart biscuits. The hops add the usual citric flavors along with a soft mint finish.

Being from the Chicagoland area, I'm a little biased. Thta not withstanding, this is a great local session ale. I ould love 2 try this on tap.

I bought a single 12oz bottle of this from Binny's Beverage Depot in Plainfield, IL in Fall 2011.

Pours a cloudy copper orange color with not too much of a head. Scent of caramel malts and buttery tones. Taste has that dry malt flavor to it as well as some hops. Fairly drinkable and enjoyable, just wish there was some stronger variety of flavors hitting the taste buds. A decent every day kind of beer.

Appearance: Not terribly carbonated. There was some ok lacing and foam. Bright red in hue.

Smell: Strong caramel malt and pine/citrus hops. Nice balance, but not terrible original.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Caramel malt and some hops. Dry, hay-like finish as well. Does down pretty well. Very drinkable.

Overall Drinkability: A good run-of-the-mill beer.

Poured from bottle into pint glass.

A: Pours a caramel-brownish gold with a large foamy white head that retains well without clingy lacing.

S: Earthy scent with toasted caramel malts, buttery biscuit, and citrus.

T: The caramel malt is the first taste with some hop bite. Some bready taste to finish.

M: Light/Medium body with good carbonation.

O: For a red it wasn't as hop driven as others, but it did have a marzen quality to the taste.

Poured in a pint glass. About a 1 finger head, with a deep copper color. Subtle malty aromas. Slight lacing along glass. Taste is very balanced with a malty presence while the hops play in the background. I was pleasantly surprised by its drinkability and is a very good sessionable beer. The folks at Argus contract brew for suburban restaurants here in Northern Illinois such as Ballydoyle Irish Pubs and Country House restaurants. They are also sold at retail. I hope to have this on tap as I drink local whenever possible.
