Notes / Commercial Description:
We did, in fact, change the Kapow! recipe. We kept getting feedback from people that with a name like Kapow! they were expecting a bit more hop bitterness, more of a kick or a punch and eventually we agreed that a beer called Kapow! needed to deliver some serious kapow! However, we really liked the flavor profile of the original recipe and didn't want to abandon it all together so here's what happened:

We created a new recipe for Kapow! that is much more IPA forward with a stronger hop bitterness, brewed primarily with Cascade and Galaxy hops. It definitely delivers on the kapow front now. (And yes, it's a bit lighter in color as well. Good eyes!).

As for the original recipe, we left it unchanged but gave it a new name, Delicioulus Extra Pale Ale.

Ultimately it came down to semantics and the preconceptions people had when looking at the name and ordering the beer. At the end of the day they're both great beers and we hope everyone will enjoy them as much as we do. Hopefully we don't confuse too many people off in the process with the name changes!

On draft at the brewery.

Poured a light brassy hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured a grainy corn aroma and a smattering of grassy hops.

The taste was likewise adjunctesque with a lively grassiness and slight sweetness.

The mouthfeel was toward teh fuller side of the style with a nice fullness.

Overall a rather uneventful experience.

Appearance was bright amber with a thick head that stayed with it until the end. Citrusy/ orange like smell. Clean bitterness and the taste matches the nose ; this one is pure Amarillo hops with a complimentary malt presence. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied and smooth. This is a very drinkable beer.
