Tall can, I dont see any dating info.

Dark brown appearance, light moch cap, leaves nice looking fine bubble film, sheeting and scattered fields of lacing.

Milk chocolate, woody earth and a hit of coffee on the nose.

This is a super smooth, full flavor brown ale, loaded with smooth chocolate, cafe au lait, and yes some subtle "earthy" goodness...love me a tasty Brown ale....this one does not disappoint...well worth a try.

8/6/18 canning date... Dark brown pour borders on black in the glass under a tall head of dark tan foam... Malty aromas predominate, with hints of nuts (lol - no, not that kind) and coffee... The flavors follow suit - not a sweet brown ale, but not totally dry or bitter either - I'd say the bitterness is moderate, the sweetness mild... Earth is an appropriate name as there is a strong earthy, herbal, woodsy character to the beer... Bitter chicory, mild coffee, a hint of anise, and dark brown malts define the beer, with chicory taking the fore now that I've identified the flavor... Medium-light feel, smooth; bitterness asserts more on the finish, leaving a bit of a shellac behind...

I'm not a big brown ale guy, but I'm pretty much diggin' this here beer...

A: The beer is clear amber in color (brownish amber when viewed from afar) and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short white head consisting of medium-sized bubbles that quickly faded away, leaving only a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of earthy yeast are present in the nose along with some hints of nutty malts and coffee beans.
T: The taste follows the smell, having flavors of earthy yeast and notes of coffee beans along with hints of nutty malts. The hops don't seem to contribute much flavors to the taste, but they do add a light to moderate amount of bitterness and mask any possible sweetness from the malts.
M: It feels just about medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This isn't your typical brown ale and has a nice amount of earthy aromas and flavors with a nice dose of hop bitterness.

Growler of Barrier Earth Brown Ale purchased at Bellport (NY) Beer and Soda Sept. 2016. Refrigerated and poured into a thin walled glass. Moderate roasty aroma. Short tan head over a dark brown brew. Not much lacing. Taste is balanced. The roasted malt and hop bitterness provide a nice flavor experience from the first taste to the lasting aftertaste. This beer, has an alcohol content that's a little on the high side considering the moderate flavor profile. This is probably comparable to a British dark mild, except for the higher alcohol.
