Poured a medium amber hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured a vibrant resinous piney hop with a grainy caramel malt.

The taste consisted of a powerful pine and grapefruit with a moderate malt and residual hop.

The mouthfeel was typical if the style.

Overall a very tasty hopped up amber.

been seeing these beers pop up around brooklyn and manhattan lately i never see them in new jersey though i wonder if they will ever get out to the garden state

anyways this is the first one that i tried from barrier and they are definitely off to a great start in my book this beer poured beautiful deep amber color a true red actually with great head on the thop and lots of lacing and foam

taste was delicious definitely had a lot of sweetness and caremal in it but wait there is also a lot of hops in there too really big punchy hops that are strong and up in the front and also on the way down

lots of full-bodied creaminess for sure really a complex nice beer a perfect pint i ended up having three of them in a row

would try this again for sure

Had on tap at Bierkraft in Brooklyn, NY.

A: Dark amber/brown with a spiny/swirly type head. At first I thought I saw a ton of hop sediment up and down the sides of the glass but it was just bubbles.

S: Fruity - grapefruit and apricot. You can also tell this beer has a nice hoppy backbone to it.

T: Spot on. Really hoppy, really bitter - a man's IPA. This one is loaded with flavors - fresh hops up front, straight bitterness in the middle, and a fruity finish.

M: Finely carbonated and a little thicker than your standard amber.

D: Really surprised this is only 6.5%.

Overall, I'm starting to like these new guys - Bravo Barrier!

This was one of a couple of Barrier beers that I sampled on a recent trip to Rattle and Hum in New York City. I like red ales when they're strong and hoppy. Not so much when they are really just amber ales. This was somewhat in between the two.

Color was a red/amber with a good amount of carbonation and two-plus fingers of head.

Aroma had a good amount of hops which was well balanced with the malt presence.

Flavor was also surprisingly hoppy but well balanced.

Overall a very good beer that I will definitely have again if i come across it.

Growler poured into DFH pint glass. Glad to see bulkhead back into the mix. I believe they changed the recipe since last time I've had it.

Nice dark amber color. Red when held to the light.

Biscuity toasty malt quickly followed by hoppy resin, pine and citrus aromas.

Taste is very similar to the smell but is a bit more hoppy.

Medium bodied, well carbonated, decent bitterness.

Another solid offering from my favorite brewery in Long Island.
