Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a nice looking soft semi-dark murky brown color with a finger’s worth of a mocha colored head. Glistens nicely and falls off at a good pace. Light stringy lace. The aroma had some soft sweet to roasty nuts up front with a nice caramel/toffee malt base rolling into a subtle crisp sweet earthy blend, some grassy dryness. The flavor brought all of the previously mentioned aromas together riding on into the aftertaste and following through in the finish. The feel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionable quality about it. Light carbonation with the ABV feeling as projected by the brewer. Overall, I liked this brown ale, well worthy of having again.

L; A very dark brown, almost black. A finger of white tan head which lingers for a bit. Some nice lacing.

S: Chocolate

T: Some chocolate, vanilla caramel.

F: Medium bodied, moderate carbonation.

O: A solid example of the style. Like more of this come october and november.

On draft at Tap and Barrel, Hauppague, NY.

Poured a deep amber hue with a two finger frothy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured a soft cocoa cut by a light herbal hop.

The taste consisted of a lightly sweet caramel malt, some light cocoa

The mouthfeel was typical of the style.

Overall a tasty easy drinking brown ale.

Counter-pressure filled growler.

A: Dark brown and cloudy with a substantial head and good lacing.

S: Mostly chocolate, some earthy, spicy hops. The nose isn't particularly strong.

T: Sweet malt with chocolate and vanilla. Some earthy, resinous hops give balance from the background and come through to clean up the finish (wiping away the sweetness).

M: Creamy with moderate carbonation. Quite nice.

O: On the second day (I drank just 2 pints the first day), I got much more nuttiness and less chocolate in both the smell and the taste. Although I liked this beer quite a bit, it wasn't as bold or robust as I had hoped for and expect from Barrier.

Growler filled at Eastern District in Brooklyn.

Pours typical dark brown, murky, medium tan head, stays at about the 1/2 inch height for a good while, very slowly dissolves and departs to a thicker frothy film, more then ample collar, light and plentiful fine bits and strands of lace.

Light wiff of dry chocolate.

Pleasant Brown ale, chocolate notes are the first and a long lasting impression. Roasty and flavorful, moderate sweetness. Medium carbonation, smooth and easy drinking.

Overall, very nicely done. Well worth give this one a try.
