Had a pint at Jimmy's 43 in the East Village. Ah, it's always nice to have a big, robust American porter like this at the end of a meal. It had a clean, full chocolate roast with hint of molasses and brown sugar around the edges. It might be a touch heavy for a session beer, but I wouldn't mind having another pint or two. This was a very tasty porter. Check it out, this is a great example of the style.

Not sure about some of the reviews but this is one of the best porters I have ever had. I went straight to the source and Evan and Craig hooked it up as always. Beer is dark but so smooth. Smell a bit of caramel, coffee, fruit and spices. Lacing is consistent on glass and this porter is good till the last drop. You would think with most porters one and done but this one leaves you wanting more. Great beer from a great brewery.

On tap at Tap and Mallet in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a fairly dark black, with some brown tints, with a creamy looking white head, and a bit of lacing.

Smells like rich and robust roasted malt, a hint of chocolate, and roasty delicious coffee. There's a pretty big coffee aroma, and as far as I know, there's no coffee added.

I really tend to appreciate well done straight forward porters, and this is a great example of a somewhat dying breed. No added flavorings, just a nice use of malt. It's lightly smoky, with a really rich roasted malt flavor, some bitter chocolate, and heavily roasted coffee. It's a classic flavor profile, done exceedingly well.

This is medium bodied, very, very creamy, with a good level of carbonation.

This was absolutely nailed. I could drink a lot of it.

A: The beer is dark brown in color and nearly appears to be opaque. It poured with a finger high dark tan colored head that gradually died down but consistently left a short head covering the surface as well as lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of chocolate malts are present in the nose along with some hints of roasted malts.
T: The taste is similar to the smell, but it is stronger and there is also a light to moderate amount of bitter coffee beans and the roasted flavors are only noticeable towards the finish.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I really enjoyed this porter—it was easy to drink and had nice and bold aromas and flavors. There is a good balance between the chocolate and coffee bitterness. It's almost like having a coffee with a unsweetened bar of chocolate.

On nitro at The Good Life, Massapequa Park, NY.

Poured a deep brown hue with a two finger frothy off white head. There was very good retention and lacing.

The smell featured waves of coffee and dark chocolate.

The taste consisted of the aforementioned coffee and chocolate with a hint of lactose.

The mouthfeel was full and smooth on nitro.

Overall a tasty porter. I'd like to sample off the beer gas though.

The beer comes in a black color with touches of brown coming through in the edges.

The beer offers the typical flavors of a porter, although on the slightly more robust side towards Black Butte and Founders. The beer offers in the front chocolate, roasted malt, a medium minus roasted coffee, along with hints of dark fruit sweetness. Confusingly, along with the aroma, there's a touch of a funky/rotten quality in the beer. It is not very offensive, but slightly surprising and off putting.

The beer offers a medium mouthfeel with a full flavor experience as the beer continues on of caramel sweetness and milk chocolate in the after taste.

Shiny black, laced russet foam. Sweet malt, cocoa powder, rounded out tootsie roll. Good bitter chocolate flavor, medium body. Not bad

Had this one on tap. Decent head on pour but a bit hazy. Head lingered then turned to beige foam. Balance was off. Had a roast flavor but then turned too sharp. Seemed acidic and burnt. Flavor needed something behind it. Hops were harsh. Moufeel was was ok but lacked that great creaminess of a good porter. This was a middle ground barrier offering for me. Not great but not bad either. Just OK.
