So, here's the thing. I enjoyed it at first until I offered my daughter a taste. She said " It tastes like HAM. HAM BEER!!!" And now I can't finish my drink... All I can taste is HAM. Darn ham. Sorry. I LOVE porters and stouts but seriously, and sorry, but I'm sure you'll now also taste... Ham Beer... Good luck finishing it. Bartender... A shot of tequila please!

L: Poured from a tallboy can to a pint glass. Had a dark brown / black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a massive, creamy, tan-colored, long-lasting head. Good lacing.
S: A so-so aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, smoke, char, an earthy quality, and coffee as well.
T: Tasted of a small amount of coffee (less than expected), lots of roasted malt (present throughout), some smokiness (a lingering presence, a bit of chocolate (needed more), and a lot of the earthy quality. This is a decent, if somewhat unbalanced, flavor. It needed much more of the chocolate and coffee to work properly. Not bad, though.
F: A fair amount of carbonation with a dry finish. Medium-bodied.
O: An uneven beer, but still decent. Worth a look.

If you wanted to push the needle over on Baltic Porter, you might throw in some dark mussels, seaweed and manure.
This fecund brew suggests all the above, with a massive fertile profile not for the faint hearted. Aye Aye, pack this on your next round the horn.
a) Looks match the power of this dark brew that will stretch your senses. Lace cap and firm lid over black body.
s) Ferry and tug smoke, the moss and mussel covered riprap, and chocolate. Smoke predominates smell and ...
t) Smokey taste; On the order of wood fire, char, beach bon fire, boardwalk, with chocolate, powdered cocoa and cotton candy accents.
f) Full, smooth, chalky, and in the finale, creamy. Lactose sweetness tempered by earthy bitterness as it lands.
o) Barrier remains original and true to their salty, sea-side origins with NY water.

Pours a chocolate brown color with a creamy mocha head. Settles into a light cap with no lacing.
The aroma is of smoke and chocolate. Nice noticeable smoke hits right away, not overpowering. The chocolate is subtle, a bit powdery.
The taste is smokey. Again not overpowering. Woody with campfire notes. The base malt provides toasted pumpernickel, caramel and some metallic notes. Any chocolate or coffee is subtle.
The feel is full, smooth and creamy. Lactose sweetness with light earthy bitterness in the finish.
I really like this as a smokey porter. Great base beer and smoke. If they intended to have chocolate and coffee notes, they may have missed a little as it is hard to detect over the smoke. Regardless very good porter.

Typical imperial/Baltic porter pour - not quite opaque, but close... Kicked up a huge dark foam head but trailed nothing down the glass. Aromas of smoky charred dark malt suggested espresso, wet wood, and hints of bittersweet chocolate. Felt a little thin at first, but as it warmed I appreciated the body more. Nice earthy malt roast profile - little molasses-like sweetness around the edges, but a fairly balanced beer between the bitter and sweet. Got some dark fruit impressions on the tongue, too. Bit of stickiness in the corners of the mouth on the finish, nice lingering flavor... At first I was a little skeptical, not being a big porter guy, including the imperial/Baltic versions (I'd rather an imperial stout for the most part, meaning, thicker, bigger, bolder), but this actually mellowed really nicely and is one of the porters I enjoyed most.

Delicious dark earthy porter. Pours a deep dark brown and has a great pleasantly strong finish which stays with you.
