On-tap at Alewife, Long Island City, NY

A: The beer is clear yellow in color and has slight hues of amber with no visible carbonation. It poured with a thin off white head that died down leaving a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of citrusy hops are present in the nose along with hints of tropical fruits.
T: Like the smell, the taste has flavors of citrusy hops along with some notes of tropical fruits. A moderate to high amount of bitterness is present.
M: It feels medium-bodied and crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: Selecting this IPA is "money"—it's easy to drink and packed with lots of aromas and flavors.

Pours a hazy straw with a finger of white foamy that settles to a solid cap that lasts for duration. Wonderful citrus nose, gratefruit and trace of tangerine. Taste matches aroma...full bodied and flavorful. Really really nice.

Appearance: Arrives with a clear goldenrod color capped by an inch of foam; a few strands of lacing are left behind

Smell: Really juicy aromatics with citrusy grapefruit, tropical fruit and floral tones

Taste: Opens with a juicy and bright grapefruit citrus flavor with developing tropical fruit and pine flavors; after the swallow, a hint of bready malt emerges but this is one juicy beer with considerable bitterness in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: This is a first rate juicy San Diego style IPA; really terrific

On tap. Really murky yellow, white head. Aroma is milky and yeasty with lots of juicy hops. Taste follows, hop milkshake, quite bitter on the finish. Pink grapefruit aftertaste. Medium plus body, medium carbonation.

First had: on tap at Barrier

Poured a hazy yellow-orange color with a small bubbly white head; minimal retention and a few dots of lacing. Some citrusy hop notes in the aroma, but as with Bittersweet, there was an overpowering scent of body odor and dishwater, as if the glass was not properly cleaned. Maybe the aroma is actually better than I received, maybe not, but either way, seeing how I got this AT the brewery, there's really no excuse. I didn't get this aroma in any other beer except the APA and the IPA, and I find that suspicious. Fortunately, this aroma didn't really transfer to the taste (a little, but not much). Nice citrusy flavors, lemon was dominant to me, with lesser notes of tropical fruit and wildflowers, mild grainy malts. Body was light-medium, carbonation was full. A decent IPA overall, but still somewhat messy, especially that aroma.

Cloudy whitish, dirty gold color. Small but lasting head which leaves rings of lace with each sip.

Bitter with a "green" weedy nose. Attractive but a little prickly.

The pale malt base is subtle and easily overtaken by the bittering hop, which has elements of black pepper and fresh sage/oregano. Thin bodied with an elevated carbonation level. The aftertaste is straight up bitter and long lasting.

Bottle purchased at the Beer Belly in Albany, NY.

This one pours a bright slightly hazy and sunny orange, with a half inch head, and lots of sticky lacing.

Smells like pure and raw Citra hops, so much juicy citrus, with a bit of pine too.

This is a really wonderful NY-made IPA, and it kind of falls in the shadows of other big NY IPA kings like Other Half, Grimm, and Singlecut. This has a really soft and dank citrus quality to it, zesty and bright, with a little bit of bitterness on the end. This is in the perfect wheelhouse, ABV-wise for me- it's substantial at 7.3% ABV, but it's low enough to be able to drink a good amount of it.

This is medium bodied, super juicy and drinkable, with a good level of carbonation.

Absolutely delicious. So $$$ it doesn't even know it's $$$.

From 09/22/13 notes. Had this on tap at The Jeffrey on the UES in NYC...new bar, which is very cool. $7 for a 16oz. pour in a pint glass.

a - Pours a hazy, bright yellow color with one inch of bright white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells pine hops, citrus hops, grapefruit, tropical fruits, fruity malts, lemon, earthy notes, floral hops, and mango. Nose is super dank and heavy on the pine. Awesome fresh, hoppy nose to it.

t - Tastes of tropical fruits, mangos, pine hops, fruity malts, grapefruit, lemon, citrus, fruity malts, and bready malts. Taste again is super dank with a lot of tropical fruits to it.

m - Medium body and moderate carbonation. A very light bitterness to it but not bad at all for an IPA.

o - Overall I've had about 10 different Barrier beers at this point, and this is by far the best one from them that I've had. It is a really good IPA chalk full of pine and tropical fruits, but with little bitterness. A great beer I'd love to have again and would recommend.
