Original reviewer set ABV as 4.6. It is actually 6.4%.

Easily had this beer over a dozen times, and it gets better every time. Poured from growler obtained at the brewery this afternoon.

A: Deep orange, straw-like appearance. Limited head and virtually zero retention besides a nice lacing around the edge. Good amount of visible carbonation coming from the depths of the glass.

S: Tropical hops galore. Citrus, pineapple, papaya, mango and slight pine at the end. Explosion of delicious hop aromas. Sugar like malt on the very end. Most likely caramel malts.

T: The first thing that comes to mind when I drink this beer is fruit loops. It is absolutely delicious. All the tropical hops on the nose were no tease..full of tropical flavors. Very nice complimentary malt backbone.

M: Medium bodied, well carbonated.

O: A classic from barrier. Such a delicious beer, and it seems to get better with every batch. Must try for hop heads. If you have access to this beer, don't sleep on it! At this rate, this growler won't last more than 2 hours.

Reviewed from notes taken in February 2015:

Served on-draught into a teku at Proletariat, New York, NY.

HEAD: 2 fingers worth of white colour head. Foamy and frothy. Has a smooth even consistency. Soft looking. Good (~8 minute) retention. Nice light lacing adheres to the sides of the glass as the head recedes.

BODY: Clear copper of good vibrance. No yeast/lees/sediment are/is visible within.

Appears well-carbonated. Not unique or special within the style, but quite appealing generally speaking.

AROMA: Tropical fruit: mango, tangerine. Fresh clean pale malts. Lightly resinous.

Certainly appealing, with a luscious new world hp profile. The fruity bursts are fantastic, but could be more expressive/evocative. Malt sweetness seems to balance hop bitterness well. Good yeast attenuation. No off-flavour or overt alcohol is detectable.

Aromatic intensity is moderate.

TASTE: Tropical fruit dominates the hop profile - some thin mango, light tangerine. Floral hop flavour complements the fruit.

The pale malt backbone is apt, bringing balancing sweetness and keeping this ale harmonious in terms of malt sweetness versus hop bitterness.

No overt yeast flavour, off-flavour, or alcohol comes through.

Clean and fairly fresh in taste. Could be deeper and more evocative, with better complexity, subtlety, and/or nuance.

Average flavour duration and flavour intensity.

TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, crisp, well-carbonated, aptly medium-bodied, of moderate thickness. Nicely refreshing.

Not oily, gushed, hot, boozy, astringent, harsh, rough, or scratchy.

OVERALL: Certainly drinkable and enjoyable, but far from world-class within the oversaturated style. More worthwhile work from Barrier, but I wouldn't order it again. I'm glad I got to try it once.

If you like fruity pebbles, this is your beer. Good base but the hops aren't doing it for me.
