Ohio Unidragon - Clown Shoes. Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass, this beer's head is four fingers thick, tan and spongy, along with solid lacing, and a nearly black body.

I smell licorice and roasted malts more than anything. Perhaps a boozey note in there.

Tastes like a fair bit of chocolate, very nicely roasted malts, and a surprisingly sweet finish. Not as much booze astringency as the aroma would lead one to believe. Pretty drinkable.

This brew's mouthfeel is smooth and clean. No lingering elements.

Overall, I'll give Ohio Unidragon - Clown Shoes a 4.75. I'll probably pick this up again.

Picked up this beer near Cleveland after an awesome couple days hitting Ogrefest at the Brew Kettle. This beer is a solid Imp Stout. Clown Shoes makes some pretty quality dark beers, this one is no different. They brewed this version of the Unidragon specifically for Ohio due to their ABV limitations. The high ABV is hidden well too.

Bomber dated March 14, 2014 from local Kroger for $8.99 poured 10/17/14 into pint glass.
Poured with a black motor oil color with a hint of red, wonderful finger thick head dark tan colored that lingered and fell after a couple drinks with lots of lacing.

First glass smelled of roasted espresso, cocoa, and heavy dark maltiness!
Tasted as wonderful as it smelled. Not too hoppy but a good balance reminiscent of pine. Mouthfeel was thick and left With stickiness on the lips.
Over all I think this Ris was fantastic not to thin nor too bitter just the way I like it, being an Ohioan I'm very happy they made this one will be buying again while I can!

Great imperial stout. Since I have to enter at least 5 words, this last sentence was added.

Ohio Unidragon brewed by Clown Shoes, with an ABV 11.50% This brew pours out deep brown color with a nice light brown head. It has the look of cola or root beer. The smell is bold and rich with grains, and malts. Ohio Unidragon has a real nice inviting smell to it. The taste is bold with flavor, you pick up on roasted malts, and grains. There is also a hit of a mild sweetness at the end of this brew. The mouthfeel is full bodied with, a bold rich flavor. This brew has a nice balance to it there is nothing overpowering in it. I like how smooth this brew is, it has a clean refreshing finish to it.. You really can not pick up the 11.50% ABV in this brew. Ohio Unidragon is a real nice, smooth drinking brew. Overall I'm giving Ohio Unidragon a 4.5 out 5. Clown Shoes did a nice job with this one. I would buy this brew again.

This one-off from CS is now nearly a year old, and, as the most recent ratings show, this brew is aging wonderfully! The original heat has faded greatly bringing out the chocolately, smokey tastes and aromas.

This beer looks, and smells world-class and the taste isn't far behind. It's also (now) a fairly easy drinker for a RIS.

Would definitely buy again. Makes me wanna try the original- Blaecorn Unidragon.

APPEARANCE - 4.0 - Poured from a bomber into an ommegang tulip, the liquid itself comes out a dark, mahogany brown, but sits in the glass pitch black. Two fingers of dense chocolate latte foam sits atop that slowly dissipates, leaving just a ring around the edge. Great lacing as the beer is consumed.

SMELL - 4.0 - Smell is something a bit unique, a little acrid from black patent, but also surely smokey, and just a bit hoppy. It smells dry, not like most big, american stouts with huge chocolate/coffee noses, but something entirely it's own beast. Very little sweetness to be found here, and I love sweet stouts, yet I find this brash expression to be quite refreshing.

TASTE - 4.5 - Much better than the last time I sampled this beer. There must have been something wrong with me. Amazingly smooth and dry with a well-placed subtle smokiness that lingers throughout the sip and after. There is a "sour" note here that does point toward those heavily roasted malts, but also makes me wonder if there is a lactose addition here. Nothing extreme stands out here, nothing offensive. This is not a chocolate or coffee bomb, it's just -- if you could translate the phrase "speak softly and carry a big stick," into an imperial stout beer, then this is what you'd get. There's no alcohol burn or huge, obvious flavors. There is only a little sweetness, some interesting hop flavors that call to mind the properties of some ancient forest, woodsmoke, and dry, ashy malts. I love a chocolate coffee stout as much as the next guy, but there's truly something amazing to be said in the complexity of this beer in the absence of any adjuncts.

MOUTHFEEL - 4.0 - Full, to be sure, but for a RIS, it was on the medium-thin side. Thicker than many, to be sure, but compared with the greats of the style, it just lacks body. Carbonation is perfectly on point, the beer just needs some extra residual sugars and/or proteins to increase its heft. Though... I would not want to sacrifice that incredible dry, smokiness of the taste, so maybe it is for the best. Let's increase from 3.75 to 4.0.

OVERALL - 4.5 - Not your average american double stout, or your average russian imperial stout. This beer veers almost into it's own category as something I've never quite encountered, an Imperial Irish Dry Stout with smoked malt. The hops are woody, the smoke is subtle, and the malts are ashy, not loaded with dessert-like qualities of chocolate or caramel. Really good, and refreshingly different. Seek it out.

Waited a year on this one, since I heard mixed reviews when it was released. Pours pitch black, fluffy tan head that lasts down the glass and decent lacing. Smells roasty and chocolatey, but strong herbal aroma as well. Tastes of coffee, chocolate, burnt toast. Herbal and pine bitterness follow, but the aftertaste brings back the roastiness. Medium-heavy, slick mouthfeel. Also, great label geared towards Cleveland. This one was a pleasure.

22 ounce portion of Clown Shoes beers everyone wins, I love them. That's bad there's a couple beers from them that are okay but they're dark beers tend to kick ass. This is a version of Blaecorn Unidragon with the abv dialed down to 11.5% abv to be legal in the state of Ohio. So they made the Unidragon attacking Cleveland with a Burning River and Skeletons playing from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame wearing Browns helmets...yes they should do a version for every major city...I always get a kick out of their artwork. Pours beautiful opaque darkness in a glass, dark mocha tan head, large bubbles slow bubbled carbonation. Aroma dark roasted malts come off very nicely, a hint of herbal hops/wood aging not sure if there is any but it takes on that soy sauce quality of Umami meatiness that you can just sink your teeth in to. In hind sight it has some dark fruit mainly plump over ripened raisins that are bursting with concentrated fruit based sugars. Flavor dark roasted malt drying qualities boarding on burnt charcoal with a hint of oak wood, dry herbal hop finish, slightly alcoholic burn in the finish. Mouthfeel is full bodied stout, again the kind you can sink your teeth into. Overall a complex imperial stout tasty, strong finish meant for drinking with friends. But I will tell you this, the Undead Party Crasher and Mexican mole' beers are insanely complex.
