Very dark brown, almost black brew, with just a hint of clarity at the edge and below the head. Pours a nice, dark brown head with very good retention and flat, thin lacing.

Chocolate stout aroma is released immediately from the pour. Up close, bourbon makes an appearance; I can't tell rum specifically from the booze portion of the aroma. Chocolate, coffee, roasted barley, and the booze all blend together on the noose phenomenally well.

Flavor really matches the aroma well: there's a touch of booze on the tongue, followed by nice, smooth, rich waves of roasted barley, manifest as chocolate, coffee, and a nice, toasty dark bread. Some sweet fruit and banana toward the middle and end from the malt and the yeast. Finally, a firm but gentle kiss from the bourbon on the back-end.

I get rum up front, and bourbon on the back; booze throughout. Creamy, understated sweetness. Oak and vanilla presence is fairly subdued; the booze itself is definitely a much larger presence than the barrel.

A little thin on the feel. Sticky yet slick. Incredibly long finish that builds in heat. Hides the alcohol very well in the mouth, but cannot be avoided on the way down. Minor sting. Definitely a sipper!

Definitely a booze-hound's beer. The base stout is absolutely delicious, but it is thinned out pretty significantly by the barrel-aging. A delicious, big stout, worthy of a try.

Not a huge barrel presence on the nose. Lots of chocolate, a touch of smoke and some roasted notes. Taste mimics the smell. Really well balanced, with maybe the Rum barrel coming out slightly on top. Maybe not as thick as Exorcism but still real good. As it warms up even further, the bourbon barrel is overtaking the Rum by a mile........

Well done stout in my opinion. So many flavors on this one while remaining highly drinkable for 12 percent.

Dark chocolate, espresso, caramel, toffee are all over in this beer. Hints of coconut as well. The best I have had from Clown Shoes. Well done.

Poured jet black with a deep beige head atop,no light got thru this one.Buttery caramel, dark fruit, and mocha in the nose, dual barrel aging lent different complexities without overpowering the beer.A full chewy feel is spot on for a beer like this.Big vanilla and dark fruit flavors, with chocolate and and sweet booze in the finish, not overly roasted.Great stuff although the sweetness and alcohol gets bigger as you drink more.

Poured directly into snifter
Appearance: pours black with brown, dark brown head, heavy lacing
Aroma: chocolate, coffee, oak, but surprisingly not much bourbon, then it warms up you start to get the bourbon (like a lot).
Taste: Starts out toasty malty like your basic stout, then it hits you with chocolate, than a moment after that it hits you with bitter coffee, all along it has little bourbon flavor and very little rum barrel in the background. then it warms up... and the bourbon starts to take over with the maltiness and chocolate supporting.
Overall: very complex, at least while its still cold, wonderful beer definitely up their on my list. You have to take an hour with this guy, It goes form a 8 to a 6 to a 10 and well worth the wait. I just wish i would have picked up 2 more to age. but maybe they'll come out with it again.

Shared on 2/21/14. Pours viscous, with a color black as night. Picked up a spicy mix on the nose, with rum acutally coming through more than the bourbon. The taste is where this stout shines. The bourbon and rum flavors play with each other on your taste buds, but do not overpower the malt. Throughout the experience, I picked up an occasional chocolate note that was very nice. Overall, this was a very well made brew. Would pickup again if I had the chance.

I didn't get as much of the bourbon or rum as I expected on this one. To me it was very subtle.

The above said, this was still a fantastic Imperial Stout. Glad I was able to pick this one up.
