A- Black with a one finger tan head and not much lacing

S- Roasted coffee and chocolate. Some caramel.

T- The flavors really open up as it warms. Caramel comes through and melds with the roasted coffee. As well as some nutty flavors.

M- good carb on a medium body. Very nice.

D- a nice offering from Clown Shoes.

22oz bottle - as usual, a bit of nonsensical exposition on the label, but I do get a heady sense of the impending American Thanksgiving ethos, at least.

This beer pours a solid black abyss, with the barest of red cola basal edges, and three fingers of puffy, densely foamy, and bubbly brown head, which leaves some splendid hairy potato profile lace around the glass as things evenly subside.

It smells of roasted caramel malt, bittersweet cocoa, a muddled oily nuttiness, slightly acrid cafe-au-lait, a weak black fruitiness, ethereal earthy spice, free-range wet ash, and perhaps a twinge of metallic alcohol. The taste is creamy milk chocolate, toasted caramel malt, laid-back coffee grounds, a sedate gritty nuttiness, some softly edgy black licorice, brown sugar-heavy dark fruit, and a singed earthy, leafy, and weedy hoppiness.

The bubbles are quite understated in their low-grade and at times ephemeral frothiness, the body an adequate medium weight, and mostly smooth, with just a minor minefield of char to traipse through, is all. It finishes off-dry, the cocoa, caramel, creamed coffee, and wannabe nuttiness still mixing, mingling, and matching.

A decent 'winter's coming' brew (well, it snowed today, up here, FWIW), for sure, but the coffee and the roast don't do the pecan side of things any favours. Overall, though, this is more or less pleasurable to drink, with no particular guest ingredient overstepping its bounds - a hipster coffee shop experience, encapsulated in a bottle.

Very dark brown brew, with a mocha-colored head. Good retention and very nice lacing.

Boozy chocolate banana smoothie aroma - my favorite from a stout/porter! Quite roasty and robust, as well, with a hint of nuts and a strong coffee aroma.

Flavor hits about where you'd expect: roasted malt, coffee, nuts, a touch ashy, woody, bitter, with a slight sweetness on the back-end.

Nice feel; a touch thin for my tastes, but overall quite smooth.

Dark brown color with brownish head. Aroma has dark, roasted malts and coffee beans. Taste is slightly sweet and malty at first but gets more bitter and roasty with big coffee notes on the finish. Body is on the light side, carbonation is medium. Overall it's a good coffee porter but I expected it to be more nutty.

aroma and flavor are dominated by coffee, not much pecan pie flavor to speak of, and flavors that are there aren't as bold as I would have liked. A fine Porter, smooth with a nice foamy mouthfeel when agitated, and a decent coffee flavor with a clean finish. Just not a personal favorite.

Pours a super effervescent ebony with a pinky of caramel colored head. Great lacing & head retention

S: Coffee & roastyness in spades

T: Follows the nose, some chocolate & a little vanilla & pecan nuttiness up front. Mocha notes with a slight astringency from the pecans, some woody hop notes as well as this warms. Finishes dry, with lovely vanilla & mocha notes & coffee grinds

MF: Medium body, moderate carbonation, warming

I really enjoyed this one, very drinkable & one I would happily buy again

Thoroughly enjoyed form the 22 oz bomber in a snifter. This smooth beast pours a muddled brownish black with a touch of brown outlines. A firm head of mixed bubbled foam settles to a thick ring, light pool, and nice lacing. Nose of subtle coffee, deep nutty aroma on the verge of a wood mill, and sweet caramel malts. Flavors exceed the nose with rich roasted malts on the front and middle, subtle brown sugar on the sides, subtle light herbal hops on the rear, and light cold pressed coffee flavors on the back that feature VERY smooth and light bittering coffee notes. Very nice mouth feel, slick and coating with a subtle nutty/woodsy aftertaste with medium carbonation to keep it lively. Overall an excellent porter that hides it's strength very well.

Cheers
