Look: It pours very dark brown with a brown head. Head retention is good.

Smell: It has strong citrus hops aroma with roast. There are pine elements as well.

Taste: It has roast flavors with citrus up front. There are some pine and floral elements in support with a little bit of burnt notes.

Feel: It has a medium full body with lots of bitterness in the finish. It's a tad harsh with the malts, but not overbearing.

Overall, very good hopping through with a good blend or roasted flavors.

From the 12 oz can in a snifter. This solid little brew pours a
dark blackish brown with a FANTASTIC head of light brown foam that
subsides to a thick layer with excellent lacing. Nose of herbal and
grassy hops amongst char, roast, dark chocolate, and dark coffee.
Flavors surpass the nose with dark cocoa, char, brulee, rich hop flower
notes of herbal, spicy, and grassy amongst the coffee and deep roast.
Nice mouth feel; medium full body, smooth, rich, lightly coating, and
finishing with a bitter malt and crisp hop note.

Overall----more than solid!

Cheers

Of note, I get hints of beers past----Rogue's Mogul and
Elevator Brewing's stout circa 2000 with a dried hop flower
on the rich foamy head......great little memories!

Cheers

From the can from the 2021 Christmas 12 pack, it pours a dark stygian brown/black with a light tan head that lasts and smells of citrus(?) - Definite hop scent of citrus in this brew, along with the expected black and roasted malts. Interesting brew!

Great name! Weird concept. OK, it's dry hopped, so what? I have to assume it is extra hoppy. I guess so. My sample is from a 12 beers of Christmas sampler, so it is pretty old.

It pours a nice foamy stout with decent head that pumps out it's slightly unusual aroma - a little hoppier. It tastes a bit dry and extra bitter and it leaves you thirsty! Lots of roasty ashes in there.

Recommended. An unusual stout that is worth a taste when you are up for some deeply harrowing tastes. Aptly named!

12oz can, tulip, best by 1/31/22.

Very dark, huge mocha head of large bubbles, and no highlights.

Spicy, herbal hops layered over dark chocolate, chocolate Graham cracker, and it has a crispness to it.

Chocolate syrup and delicious leafy, oily, herbal hops. There’s a dusting of chocolate up front then a huge hit of the hops, before the Hershey’s syrup flows through to a dry finish with hop aftertaste.

Light body with medium carbonation. The carbonation is good to keep the hop flavors popping.

The subtitle of dry hopped is absolutely delivered on. This is one of the hoppiest stouts I’ve had.

Poured from can into tulip, good 3 finger tan head, great retention and excellent lacing. Jet black in the glass, no light gets thru. Roasted malt on the nose, slight coffee and floral notes. Taste is big clean roasted malt, not acrid, smooth, some coffee peaks thru, floral/citrus mixed in, some underlying chocolate, and a dry finish with little residual aftertaste. No heat what so ever, slight viscosity lets you know there is some malt in there.

From a 12 oz. can with a BB date of 01/31/22. Sampled Nov 26, 2021.

The appearance is dark brown to near black under a modest tan head.

The aroma is sweet roasted malts, a little coffee, a little caramel, with floral and earthy esters.

The mouthfeel is around medium.

Roasted sweet malt flavor with a little coffee but a strange after taste like cardboard. Dry, earthy finish. Low to no booze taste.

Pours pretty and dark, but the head doesn’t last so long. Decent coffee smell. I really liked the taste and finish. Stout at first but bitter at the back of the mouth.

Pours a dark mahogany color that is nearly black. Although nearly opaque, carbonation is visible. A large billowy foam mocha head rises to the top, nearly spills over, and retains well. Lots of ring like foamy lacing throughout.
Surprisingly, first impressions of the aroma are of a fruit derived from hops; citrus and pitted fruit. This is followed by nutty malts, roasty, cocoa and coffee like aromas. More aromas include toasted and biscuity malts, dark bread, and wood.
The initial sips are sweet and highlight a bright citrus and pitted fruit hops flavor, fruity malts, chocolate and nutty malts. However, almost immediately, the finish reveals a roasty, charred malt and hoppy finish that provides bitterness. In the middle palate, the hops bitterness develops along, keeping the now subdued sweetness in check. Flavors of dark chocolate, espresso and black malts add to the growing bitterness.
Full bodied, yet easy to drink, with a moderate carbonation. Roasty, significantly hoppy, and with a dry finish. Smooth mouthfeel without too muck stickyness.
A complex and hoppy stout. Flavorful and enjoyable. I would have again.

Clown Shoes produces so many barrel-aged stouts that I don't often interact with their offerings released in cans or 12-oz bottles rather than bombers. I thought this would be a nice change of pace, but it's a bit of an odd bird; I agree with another reviewer that it comes across more as a black ale than a stout. Thin for 8% ABV, but with very nice head and lacing. The dry hopping has taken over, in keeping with Clown Shoes' penchant for over-the-top experimentation. High bitterness and floral hop character overshadows the roasted grains and malt bill.

L: Poured from a tallboy can to a pint glass. Had a dark brown / black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a two inch, creamy, tan-colored, fairly long-lasting head. Excellent lacing.

S: A decent, but not brilliant, aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, hops, and coffee.

T: Tasted of a bit of coffee (not overly present), a good shot of roasted malt (very much there), lots of hops, some dark chocolate, and light citrus (lemon). Kind of an odd flavor, something that resembles a black ale more than a stout. It's a little uneven; not quite enough chocolate or coffee, but still, not a bad flavor.

F: A good amount of carbonation with a super dry finish Medium-bodied.

O: Definitely an uneven beer, but it has good qualities. Worth a look.

L: deep dark brown with ruby highlights under a lacy 2.5" tan cap with good retention

S: has a strong coffee and chocolate smell with no harsh or burnt aromas lightly softened with a whiff of dark dried fruit

T: deep roast leads the flavors with espresso, dark chocolate and some alcohol leading to a drying finish

F: The body is medium full and the carbonation is medium, creamy and very soft

O: big, potent, drinkable dry stout
