The Intergalactic League of Farmers waits for no man, even with a crop as delicate as bubbles. Elegant crops, of course, and no matter the trouble in harvesting them it’s always worthwhile to see those beauties shine. Light in color with a touch of haze, this American IPA maintains an approachable medium-body without sacrificing any of the full aroma and flavor of copious dry hopping additions of Simcoe, Azacca, and Idaho 7 hops.

A highly drinkable American IPA with excellent hop flavors of pine, pineapple, orange, and grapefruit with a solid pale malt background. Light-medium body with very dry finish. I could have definitely sat down with 3 or 4 of these, but the hour of the night at Beantown Pub called for only 2. A great American IPA that doesn't require a lot of thinking but is stellar for easy drinking.

Disappointing from an outfit that usually does pretty well. Not much to look at with a brief head and marginal lacing. A funny, pharmaceutical sort of nose. That smell carries over to the palate, which unfortunately reminds me of something from the Trader Joe’s lineup. The finish is interesting, but this is a weird beer.

Clown Shoes Beer "Bubble Farm IPA"
12 fl. oz. can "pkg 029 02/28/22 09:53" and sampled on 07/18/22
$2.99 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ
Notes via stream of consciousness: A creamy head of off-white foam tops a hazy deep golden body. The aroma is sweetish and hoppy over a bready malt base. It's fairly bright but muddled. I'm getting candyish berries, papaya, orange, grass, and pine. On to the taste... it's similar with bready/wheaty/sweetish malt and tropical hop notes but nothing that's snappy. If you look you'll probably find orange, sweet berries, earthiness, spiciness, soft pine, papaya, roses, bubblegum, nectarine, and grapefruit. It's got a median bitterness of around 40 IBUs and it finishes dry, earthy, and spicy. In the mouth it's medium bodied and gently crisp. Unfortunately the head didn't hold up all that well, and the lacing wasn't nearly as good as it could have been. All told this is a decent beer that I could see keeping around just for standard drinking but it's nothing special. It's an IPA at 6.5% ABV but it comes across more like a pale ale. I do like the choice of hops though but that's because I love Mosaic and I have no doubt that that's where the berries, bubblegum, and roses are coming from. Everything else? - I don't have a clue but orange, nectarine, and grapefruit can come from a wide variety of hops.

On tap at the brewery - pretty darn easy drinking… slight flatness bc of tap issues made a near perfect gentle mouthfeel. Great mouthfeel leads to great taste, kinda wins the day for me, every time.

Bubble Farm IPA from Clown Shoes. Purchased 16/11/20 for $ 28.00 (Including tax) for mixed 12-pack of 12 oz cans ($ 0.194/oz) from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. On shelf at store and stored at home at 42 degrees. Reviewed 14/1/21.
Stamped on the bottom “Best By 1/31/21”. Served at 45.6 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 52.7 degrees.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Pale Gold (SRM 4), hazy.
Body – Deep Gold (SRM 6), murky and opaque. When rear-lite, deep gold and slight haze.
Head – Large (Maximum 4.2 cm, aggressive center pour), Antique white, medium density, short retention, leaving an eight to eleven mm crown, and a thin compete cap with rocks around the circumference. Some tiny pieces of lacing remain at the top of the glass as the head retracts.
Lacing – Very good. Wide irregular bands of mostly tiny to small bubbles connected by grotesque columns and having a few globular stalactites. Virtually indistinguishable from Space Cake. Evolves to torn curtains. See also above.
Aroma – 3.25 – Weak generic citrus and weaker malt, no yeast.
Flavor – 3.25 – Begins slightly malty and astringent, no yeast. The hops are less noticeable on the palate than in the nose. No alcohol (6.5 % ABV, as marked on container) taste or aroma. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Ends slightly malty with very weak citrus
Palate – 4 – Medium, watery, lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation 3.5 Looks good, feels good, weak aroma and taste. Seems like a weak version of Space Cake.
