Undated bomber poured into a Perfect Pint Glass at ~6C. Courtesy of funkyaudio in US/CAN BIF. Thanks!

A: A perfect looking pour. Opaque with dark edges and a great 2 finger tan to brown head that lingers and laces wonderfully.
S: Grapefruit & citrus strongly in the nose with roasted notes and a bit of burnt sugar and cocoa.
T: Lots of roasted notes with heaps of liquorice and lighter molasses notes. Nice biting bitterness with mild hoppy flavours of citrus rind and grapefruit juice.
M: Nice carbonation, great lingering bitterness... Roast stays stuck to the palate forever. Warming alcohol builds over time.
O: Quite a nice beer. The alcohol builds over time, and maybe a bit more hop would be enjoyed, but it is a very nice and thoroughly enjoyable beer...

Appearance: Another fine pour from the Clown Shoes folks, with a massive tan head that sits atop the black liquid, leaving strands of lace behind

Smell: Burnt chocolate roast and piney hops

Taste: Lots of fusel alcohol, up front, that overwhelms both the roasty malt and hop flavors; underneath, there are some nice elements but it is hard to discern them

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation and considerable heat

Overall: I am giving this beer the benefit of the doubt as I suspect I may have an off bottle; would like to try this again sometime but I am having a hard time drinking this one

Pours jet black with a 2 finger creamy mocha head with spotty sticky lacing down the glass.

Aroma is piney hops with a bit of roastiness.

Starts out with a strong roasted coffee flavor. Bold earthy and piney hops makes their presence felt and it finishes bitter and dry.

Mouthfeel and carb are both medium.

Very solid brew and for 10% hides the alcohol very well. I'm not a huge fan of Black IPA's, but this is one of the better ones I've had. Better than the original Hoppy Feet.

A - pours black with about an inch and a half of foam. Excellent retention

S - very sweet with a light citrus and grassy odor.

T - Sweet, but a hot finish

M - slightly watery. Malty aftertaste coats the entire mouth

O - Not terrible, but too hot.

Writing this while trailing off into a Thanksgiving coma. Popped open a bottle before dinner while we were snacking on Ritz crackers and Cabot cheese. Delicious - hoppy, rich, creamy, and super roast-y and dry on the finish. Nose was a bit overly boozy and didn't find the high abv to add to the experience of the beer but yeah, would definitely jump back in for more.

22 oz. Just about black with a nice finger of tan head.

Aroma is quite hop forward, more pine than citrus, with roasted malt, anise and coffee after. Fairly pungeant.

Taste, one of the hoppier black ales I've had.
Mostly piney resin up front. Wow is that a dry roast finish. Very dry. Coffee, faint cocoa. Almost to a fault, like I just ate some burnt toast.

Solid mid body. The mouth sucking dryness does not affect the drinkability as much as I thought it would. Kind of like a sour candy, making you want to have another. Alcohol is also pretty well hidden.

Still the dryness makes this one slightly less than steller for me.
