Sampled at Boise’s Imperial Stout get together, over 120 bottles to choose from. Going with the flow on this rating. This was one of my contributions to the event.

Pours a very dark brown from a 16oz can. Smells of cocoa and burnt malt. Taste is similar with a bit of coffee, think`n chewy. Off to buy more in the am!

22oz undated bottle poured into a Duvel glass at fridge temp 10% ABV. The beer pours dense black with light brown head. The head recedes to a medium ring and leaves a little lacing. The aroma is roasty malts and baker's chocolate. The taste follows the nose with more smooth dark cocoa and roasted malts. There is a subtle smokiness in the taste that is drying and adds a hint of complexity. No alcohol presence in the aroma or taste. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, adequately carbonated and dry in the finish. The bitterness is very subdued without allowing the taste to tilt to sweet. Overall, excellent. I do wish I knew the beer's age as I suspect it sat for a while before I purchased it. Whatever the age or condition, it was delicious in my glass.

-Poured from bottle into tulip glass
-Nearly pitch black in color with little to no head.
-Strong roasted malt smell, coffee, caramel, some molasses sweetness.
-Taste follows smell more or less. Could use more punch. Found myself smelling more than drinking.
-Very smooth heavy bodied mouthfeel.
-Overall a great stout that I would love to have again.

Bottled 9/30/14
Beer pours very dark brown and then appears pitch black in glass. Dense mocha/caramel colored head.
Smell is sweetness. Some molasses, vanilla & caramel.
Taste is like the nose. It's a mix of the different sweetness. Some slight Tobacco.
The feel is very creamy and soft. Especially with the head staying in like it did.
Overall, I like it a lot. Don't know how it compares to a fresh one but it sure does hold up well for not knowing if you ask me!

Pours black with little to no head, faint lacing and appears mostly flat. Bottled 9/28/17. Nose is roasty malt, bitter chocolate and coffee with a faint sourishness. Taste pretty much follows the nose with a thinner than I prefer mouthfeel. A middle of the pack IS, wouldn't turn it down but wouldn't seek it out

Aged 2 years in the dark.

Coffee brown to black, with a beige-brown head that sticks around. Nice display.

There was no spill-over when i uncapped it, so im surprised to get the cherry notes that i do. Light sour cherry notes underneath some light acidic coffee and roast malts. As it warms it develops hot chocolate and fudge notes.

Taste is of burnt cardboard, oak, molasses, burnt toast, leather - quite a bit of it, edamame, rolled tobacco, light chocolate cake, and a finish of dark coffee.

Feel is slick, with mild carbonation and a mildly roasty finish.

Overall, it's something I'd like to try fresh some day, but I'm not incredibly impressed with this beer anyways.
