Cloudy gold with one finger of bone color head. Head lasts about ten minutes leaving some rings of lace on the glass.
Smell is funky with some bread crust malt aroma.
Taste is slightly dank hops with a large malt body.
Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation. Finish is lightly dry and bitter.
Overall a decent IPA. Unreadable bottle date.

L: Nice deep amber color. Half finger of head

S: Nice, bitter smell and a little bit of citrus

T: Great bitter taste. Also get the citrus that you smell on the nose.

F: Very nice feel. Great balance. You would never think this is a 8% APV beer. Very smooth and easy to drink.

This is a fantastic beer. It's better than I thought it would be. I would certainly buy this again. Got a single bottle, but will go for a six pack next time.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a speiglau IPA glass.

Look is a light amber with a big fluffy head.

Aroma is earthy lemon with a strong honey like note at the end from the malt.

Taste is a lot more expressive than the aroma. Deeply herbal bitter with a light lemon note and a sweet malt note at the end.

Delicious beer.

S-aroma is of caramel malt and citrus

T-taste is similar to the smell with a caramel malt backbone, citrus, and mild to moderate pine bitterness

M-medium body and light to moderate carbonation

Overall an easy drinking IPA especially for the abv

Pours an opaque, medium amber producing 3 fingers of eggshell white, foamy, somewhat lasting head that leaves a webby wash of lace. Aroma is rich & oaky, caramel malt with a roasted note that is cocoa like. The hops: floral, grapefruit & faint tropical fruit seem to take a backseat in the sweetness of the nose. Taste, initially, is what I would imagine a very hoppy brown ale would taste like. Rich & oaky with roast & caramel malt. Hoppiness predominates after the mid-sip. So malty that I would not call it balanced until the finish. Aftertaste is a balanced hoppy/malt bittersweet that gravitates toward unbalanced bitterness & slight astringency. Low alcohol presence in both nose & mouth. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation, dry but sweet at the same time, with a drawing nature on the front half of the tongue.

Very good and just my style. Galactic hoppiness abounds in this suprising offering. Deep amber color and a terrific mouth feel make this one of of the best I've had recently. Love the bottlecaps with the lil clown shoes.

On tap, it pours a hazy orange with a thin white head that leaves plenty of lace. Aroma is lead by citrus and malty sweetness. Also some candied orange, orange juice and peach. Taste features lots of citrus and malty, almost sugary sweetness with tropical and stone fruit notes and a hint of pine. A nice, long, lingering bitter. Quite chewy. Mouthfeel is medium and a touch sticky. This one hit my palate just right. Outstanding.

Pours cloudy copper/amber color with a thick 2 finger foamy off white head that was full of bubbles of all sizes which popped and moved as the head dissipated very slowly, leaving foam craters and really impressive foamy lacing coating the sides. A layer stuck around on top for a while, adding to the overall good looks of this brew.

Smells of fresh citrus fruit and graham cracker up front, with lemon zest, biscuit, orange peel, grapefruit, tropical fruit like guava, caramel, sweet malt, mild floral hops and a dank hoppy aroma which is part maple syrup and part wet cone floral hop. Fresh hops blend well with the malt backbone, but it's a little sweeter smelling than expected.

Taste is very similar to the nose with fresh citrus fruit, dank hops, sweet malt and graham cracker up front, followed by orange peel, grapefruit, tropical fruit, tangerine, guava, toffee, caramel, fresh cut grass, peppery spices, buttery biscuit, toasted grains and finally some piney hops and pine cone notes. The Galaxy hops bring a lot of zest which blends well with the sweet, bready malt base. Seem like more floral notes and some yeast comes out as it warms, making it even more complex and hiding the 8% ABV very nicely.

While the appetite for hops remain insatiable, there not be any frenzy. And that's because of Galactica- a hop bomb of a beer with the strength to match which celebrates the Galaxy hop- one of the most sexy flavors on the lupulin map. In waltzes Clown Shoes with their bitter cheer, sprinkling citrus and herb upon the tip of the hop-headed tongue.

Dank, fruity, herbal and piney; the beer's earthen perfume is of rustic hops with a grassy, floral and cannabis potpourri. Underneath, the deep amber ale is laced with a hoppy haze and a creamy eggshell froth. Caramelized to taste, a firm toasty taste of granola and graham cracker soon takes hold.

As the rich middle palate takes hold, the bulk of taste is equally sweet malt and bitter hops. Grapefruit and orange peel continue to the hoppy show along with a quick follow-up of lemon, apple, pineapple, apricot and mango. As the ale trends less floral and fruity toward more bitter and resinous, the beer's peppery pine flavors tighten their grip in the gullet.

Medium-full in body, the hops surpass fruit and pine and land in grassy terrain with cannabis, fresh grass clippings, herbal sassafras and cannabis- all with a peppery alcohol spice and a long bitter, solventy aftertaste.

Booze, booze, booze. A sweet, cloying, sickly mess. Some bitterness (it is a DIPA after all) but the booze is predominant. Shockingly so for a mere 8% abv.

Pours rich amber orange with a creamy frothy off-white foam head. Tastes like passionfruit, spicy guava, peach, mango, pineapple, papaya, melon, dank herbal earthy grassy resinous pine, some toasted nutty biscuity caramel malts, with orange and grapefruit citrus. A- 12oz bottle pours into a tulip with a ever-so hazy medium golden-orange and a white, frothy cap. Good retention as it falls down to a big island and a wide belt. Lacing begins with a huge sheet and falls down with webs.

S- Hops lead the aroma but are neither pungent nor do they really bring any intensely unique notes; more of a balanced out hop profile. All come in at a laid back strength but tangerine, orange, stone fruits, floral and herbal hops combine well. A touch of sweet pale caramel grains and some bread.

T- Pretty much a carbon copy of the aroma but a slight dank feel opens up as well as more of a juicy mango stone fruit influence. Sweet oranges, grapefruit, tangerine, melon, herbs, flowers, pine and earth beyond that. Well rounded hops but once again not a hop bomb. Finishes with slight sweetness and pale cracked grains. ABV extremely well hidden; thought this was more like 5%.

MF- Thick body to support the 8% with a slickness as well as a foamy and frothy consistency. This is brought on by a medium level of carbonation. Ends with sweetness and a clean bitterness.

Clown Shoes can handle the hops. A good DIPA which could be great if the sweetness was toned down just a tiny bit.

Hazy orange, decent head receded to a thin fizziness with sticky lacing. Tons of dank nose (that admittedly sounds stupid. ...) that turns into candy clementines with a dash of green onion. Taste is exactly the same, save for a tiny bit of heat on finish. Mouthfeel is a little syrupy, which I honestly appreciate in a DIPA, as something with a high ABV should be a little self governing.

Overall, nice job on this Mr. Clown Shoes dude.

Purchased at Meijer as part of a mixed 6pk for $10.00. 12oz bottle served at 4deg C in a draught glass

A- Opens well and pours a 1" high white head that films out within a couple of minutes. Medium gold colour and unfiltered

S- Nice hops here. Tons of dry hopping

T- Hops on hops. Nice though. Has a lot of sugar and malt. Good blend. Heavy

M- Sticky and thick.

O- Nice brew. Will buy again if I see it as it is a good change up brew.

Food Pairing

This nice little brew went well with...... Soft pretzel with salt and mustard. The way you get them at the ball park.

On tap at Gaslight Brewery. Pours a copper, golden hue. Strong notes of mango and citrus predominate. Easily drinkable despite being noted as a double IPA. Pine is apparent with a noticeable hop present. Recommended.

Bought a bottle at the Beer Shop in East Longmeadow. The beer pours with a hazy orange appearance with a thick head that dissipated into a thin layer of bubbles and ring around the glass with some lacing. Aromas include a decent pine citrus aroma with a good grapefruit smell. The flavors of the beer include a more bready flavoring that hoppy, in my opinion. Still a good mix of spiced hops and biscuity malts. Mouthfeel included a good carbonation to a medium body. Overall, a pretty good beer with a nice look and good aromas.

12 oz. bottle, bottled 05/27/2016 printed and smeared on the bottleneck. My first twelve ounce bottle from Clown Shoes, and my first new beer from this brewery in quite some time.

Poured into a Unibroue Maudite snifter.

A - Pours a hazy juicy burnt sienna orange body with one finger of frothy soapy off-white head with decent retention, and leaves some good scattered strands of lacing. Appears adequately carbonated. Looks good.

S - Aroma is fresh, juicy, fruity, & floral. Hops are fresh and flowery, lending a sort of Mosaic-ish smell, along with notes of tropical citrus fruit - orange, lemon, tangerine, mango, papaya, peaches, nectarine. Very inviting.

T - Taste follows the nose, with excellent balance between the juicy dry-hopping, and the bready crystal malt backbone. Big notes of tropical citrus stone fruits - grapefruit, tangerine, orange, mango, papaya, with good piney hop bitterness. Very nicely balanced and delicious hop flavors on display here from the Galactica dry-hopping; on par with some days-old IPA's i've gotten from Pipeworks.

M - Feel is very smooth, crisp, creamy. Medium-bodied with excellent carbonation. Very easy drinking stuff for the moderate 8.00% abv.

Overall, an excellent IPA from Clown Shoes; would love to get my hands on more of em like this from these guys. Not sure why it seems to be underrated here, maybe it's new 12 oz. bottling format will help things.

Bought a single bottle. Drank from snifter.

Look: pours a hazy amber color with a finger of quickly dissipating white head, decent amount of lacing
Smell: sweet orange & faint tropical fruit, tiny bit of hops in the background
Taste: orange is definitely at the forefront, tropical fruit mixed in as well, bitter hoppy aftertaste. pretty good.
Feel: a little on the heavy side, lightly carbonated, not very smooth but definitely not hard to drink

Overall: pretty good IPA, but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it again.

This beer is good. The galaxy hops aren't very present even though it's made with it. It's a good over all beer. Smells better than it taste. I'll buy it again drank in a tulip glass out of a 12oz.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a tulip glass. Bottled March 01, 2016

L- Medium-dark amber, some chill haze that cleared nicely, one finger white head.

S- Some medium tropical aromas of that hop Juicy Fruit gum character, touch of alcohol, some malty sweetness.

T- Leads more with the malty sweetness than the hops, bitter citrus, medium to high bitterness, touch of alcohol on the tongue.

F- One the higher side of medium, very slight syrupy mouthfeel.

O- An okay DIPA, it seems a little less hoppy and more malt this time than the other times I've had it on draft but this bottle isn't that old. I wonder if they reformulated the recipe at all now that it's in four packs.

Ok , I'm like this is good and then its hits me. This is a Great IPA despite some reviews. Great amber color on the pour, semi hazy, burnt orange, semi copper.Big 2 finger head , which leads to some exceptional lacing . Big aromas of Galaxy hops, they didn't name it GALACTICA FOR NOTHING! MALTS SHINE HERE TOO! Sweet malts! Which blend into flavor along with a milky way of galaxy hops. NO ALCOHOL presence none, zip , zero , zilch. carbonation is fine bubbles so you do the math. Over all Great Representation of Galaxy hops.

Too much crystal for my taste but a well-made beer nonetheless. Lot of malt in the nose, which may not a appropriate to style. Very low hop aroma. Bitterness is clean and balances the malt well. Slight alcoholic heat in the finish. Finishes dry with a touch of raisin. My bottle was a few months old at least and may have oxidized. Overall solid effort from one of my favorite brewers.
