Bought a bottle at the Beer Shop in East Longmeadow. The beer pours with a hazy orange appearance with a thick head that dissipated into a thin layer of bubbles and ring around the glass with some lacing. Aromas include a decent pine citrus aroma with a good grapefruit smell. The flavors of the beer include a more bready flavoring that hoppy, in my opinion. Still a good mix of spiced hops and biscuity malts. Mouthfeel included a good carbonation to a medium body. Overall, a pretty good beer with a nice look and good aromas.

12 oz. bottle, bottled 05/27/2016 printed and smeared on the bottleneck. My first twelve ounce bottle from Clown Shoes, and my first new beer from this brewery in quite some time.

Poured into a Unibroue Maudite snifter.

A - Pours a hazy juicy burnt sienna orange body with one finger of frothy soapy off-white head with decent retention, and leaves some good scattered strands of lacing. Appears adequately carbonated. Looks good.

S - Aroma is fresh, juicy, fruity, & floral. Hops are fresh and flowery, lending a sort of Mosaic-ish smell, along with notes of tropical citrus fruit - orange, lemon, tangerine, mango, papaya, peaches, nectarine. Very inviting.

T - Taste follows the nose, with excellent balance between the juicy dry-hopping, and the bready crystal malt backbone. Big notes of tropical citrus stone fruits - grapefruit, tangerine, orange, mango, papaya, with good piney hop bitterness. Very nicely balanced and delicious hop flavors on display here from the Galactica dry-hopping; on par with some days-old IPA's i've gotten from Pipeworks.

M - Feel is very smooth, crisp, creamy. Medium-bodied with excellent carbonation. Very easy drinking stuff for the moderate 8.00% abv.

Overall, an excellent IPA from Clown Shoes; would love to get my hands on more of em like this from these guys. Not sure why it seems to be underrated here, maybe it's new 12 oz. bottling format will help things.

Pours a light Amber color. Aroma is malty sweetness with some hoppy bitterness. Flavor is light citrus with a balanced malt finish. Has a nice body and overall is an solid beer but too malty for my liking.

Bought a single bottle. Drank from snifter.

Look: pours a hazy amber color with a finger of quickly dissipating white head, decent amount of lacing
Smell: sweet orange & faint tropical fruit, tiny bit of hops in the background
Taste: orange is definitely at the forefront, tropical fruit mixed in as well, bitter hoppy aftertaste. pretty good.
Feel: a little on the heavy side, lightly carbonated, not very smooth but definitely not hard to drink

Overall: pretty good IPA, but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it again.

This beer is good. The galaxy hops aren't very present even though it's made with it. It's a good over all beer. Smells better than it taste. I'll buy it again drank in a tulip glass out of a 12oz.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a tulip glass. Bottled March 01, 2016

L- Medium-dark amber, some chill haze that cleared nicely, one finger white head.

S- Some medium tropical aromas of that hop Juicy Fruit gum character, touch of alcohol, some malty sweetness.

T- Leads more with the malty sweetness than the hops, bitter citrus, medium to high bitterness, touch of alcohol on the tongue.

F- One the higher side of medium, very slight syrupy mouthfeel.

O- An okay DIPA, it seems a little less hoppy and more malt this time than the other times I've had it on draft but this bottle isn't that old. I wonder if they reformulated the recipe at all now that it's in four packs.

Ok , I'm like this is good and then its hits me. This is a Great IPA despite some reviews. Great amber color on the pour, semi hazy, burnt orange, semi copper.Big 2 finger head , which leads to some exceptional lacing . Big aromas of Galaxy hops, they didn't name it GALACTICA FOR NOTHING! MALTS SHINE HERE TOO! Sweet malts! Which blend into flavor along with a milky way of galaxy hops. NO ALCOHOL presence none, zip , zero , zilch. carbonation is fine bubbles so you do the math. Over all Great Representation of Galaxy hops.

Too much crystal for my taste but a well-made beer nonetheless. Lot of malt in the nose, which may not a appropriate to style. Very low hop aroma. Bitterness is clean and balances the malt well. Slight alcoholic heat in the finish. Finishes dry with a touch of raisin. My bottle was a few months old at least and may have oxidized. Overall solid effort from one of my favorite brewers.

Meh....hazy orange in color. Metallic nose with a little onion as well. Something just seems out of balance with this. It has a harsh mouthfeel and was not an easy drinker for me. The hop presence is there, but was too bitter and featured neither pine or citrus notes....just bitter. Probably won't go back to this one.

Burnt orange to light amber in color, slightly hazy, a finger of white head. Smells like oranges and tangerines, with a bit of piney hoppiness. Also a bit of a metallic/iron-like aroma as well, which sounds strange but actually goes well with character of the beer. Very balanced in taste between the hops and malty sweetness, but loses any citrus that the nose had. Finishes cleaner/dryer than many Double IPA's I've had. Medium mouthfeel and effervescence.

Overall a solid Double IPA, if not a bit underwhelming in the taste department.

A large and thick tan froth settles slowly across this burnt orange brew.

A deep and musty herbal hop aroma rises distinct from underlying vanilla and caramel notes.

The hops aren't as prominent on the tongue as they are to the nose, but there's plenty of bitterness to go around. Faint notes of orange, gum and caramel linger.

Goes down quite smooth and weighed down by very little baggage. A stellar DIPA without a doubt.

A Dark Amber color with thin white head which covers the side of the glass with some lacing - citrus fruits, pine, apricots. starts almost Raisony, then the familiar citrus but with sweet brown sugar finishing off with a piny bitterness - Dry with good medium overall carbonation. Pretty good, but unbalanced

Pours a slightly hazy darker golden color with white head. Pine, citrus, and floral notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with citrus and pine, a little grass too. Decent, but mostly average DIPA.

Bottled 10/27, still under one month, very fair assessment.
Pours a clear light copper/pink with solid one-finger dense white head. Staid and heavy to the eye.
Smell is sticky pine, honey, lime juice, bubblegum, orange rind, some sour mash.
Taste mostly lime juice and pine boughs. It's not an aggressive hoppiness, but rather that there's so much volume of hop treatment on this, it's thick with competing hop notes. Any pale/amber/copper maltiness is relegated to the last part of the swallow, when it does seem to have a little honey-amber gravity to it. Finish/aftertaste is tingly sharp pine.
Feel is in the same ballpark as 90 min. very thick/heavy all the way through. Not an alcohol taste, but you feel the abv in the body the whole time.
Overall, I almost really like it. Nice quantity of and focus on various hops. Nice gravity in the body. Does not translate all the hop smells to taste, as it's dominated by lime/pine. Does not get much counterbalancing sweetness or toastiness from the malt body, so that aspect is felt in weight only and doesn't broaden the palate for me. Where I shop, this is a buck cheaper than 90 min., which makes it a perfect buy on a very good, but not mind-blowing, dipa. I will buy again on occasion.

Pours cloudy, hazy orangey-amber with a nice solid cap of creamy light-tan head. The head holds up well and leaves nice small sticky lacing. The aroma is a nice blend of caramel malt sweetness and floral, citrus, and tropical fruit hops. The taste is much the same and is quite tasty. The body has a nice unctuous feel to it, a little thick, mostly smooth with just a little tingle of carbonation.

Pours an effervescent amber/cooper with 2 fingers of pearl white head. Hazes a little, stellar lacing & head retention

S: Breadyness, faint citrus notes, expected more nose

T: Breadyness, a touch of pine, more pineapple, plus just a little woody hops up front. More breadyness, pineapple, dryness & woody hops as this warms, some mango. Finishes a little dry with woody hops, breadyness, a little pear, & mango

MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation, nice balance

Drinks very easy, not as good as the draft version, but well worth buying

Excellent reddish-orange color with a creamy top when poured correctly (use a snifter). Reminded me of oranges and citrus with a splash of brandy.

Excellent!

Poured into a snifter.

3.75 A: Murky copper color. Two fingers of beige frothy/creamy head. Retention is about average and a good finger of lacing is left.

3.75 S: Nose screams of peach and tropical fruits, specifically mango and orange with a touch of pineapple underneath. Formidable bready yeastiness. This may be the first CS IPA that isn't overtly sugary. Instead, it's rather balanced despite the strong fruity hoppiness. Caramel with a moderate neutral maltiness.

3.5 T: Taste is similar to nose. Lots of bready yeast, fruity hops per above, and a balancing caramel maltiness. Mild-moderate bitterness with the end result being mildly sweet. Booze is well hidden with just the slightest warming finish.

3.75 M: Heavier medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Pleasantly creamy that offsets the heaviness on the tongue that the yeast delivers. Very smooth and easily quaffable.

3.75 D: This is a good, well balanced brew. No real faults. Enjoyable by all who can take the heavy yeastiness that all CS brews seem to have.

Poured a nice slightly hazy gold with a slight orange tint.

Nose and flavor line up - citrus and a bit of pine in the hop and a decent malt sweetness that was a touch high for me (perhaps not overly fresh - looks to be bottled in August but no date).

Overall a nice DIPA, glad I tried it but not one I'd actively seek out.

An enjoyable, balanced beer. It has a slightly bitter finish that an ipa lover would expect from a double ipa. It does not have much of a nose. I would not seek this beer out, but would be happy to have it again. This was poured from a growler filled yesterday.
