look: 3.75 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 4 | overall: 3.75

Appearance: Pours a dark reddish amber with a finger of whitish lace that fades quickly to a spotty lace.

Smell: Citrus forward with grapefruit and lemon, a vegetal note, and a blend of hoppy notes. Almost reminiscent of a west coast IPA, but not as hoppy.

Taste: Lemon, grapefruit and peach up front are balanced by a hoppy backbone with pine and grass. Not overly malty as amber ales can be, thanks to a nice happiness.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and smooth with a nice hop kick, but not overly bitter. Easy drinking and refreshing.

Overall: A quite solid beer from Clown Shoes that I would drink again. This bottle wasn't extremely fresh so I'd love to get my hands on something fresher.

Bottle: a standard 355mL brown bottle with a typically Clown Shoes-esque craft label.

Appearance: a cloudy dark amber in colour with orange highlights. Big carbonation visible. A one-finger off-white head with good retention and fantastic lacing.

Aroma: a sweet aroma of bread malts and yeast, citrus hops and tea leaves.

Taste: big citrus hops with some earth bitterness. The sweet bread malts linger in the back too. A fantastic tasting lager.

Aftertaste: again plenty of hop bitterness coming through, but it is very sweet and well-rounded, unlike some AIPAs for instance. Very nice.

Mouth feel: a moderate feel with a big carbonation to carry the flavour. Sweetness up front, smooth with a dryness on the finish.

Overall: well-rounded flavours, a sweet and bitter hop with good malt backing. Add a reasonable price and that this is different to your normal grain lager; definitely one of the better lagers I have had to date.
