Always like the Drei Kronen. I have talked several times with Herr Straub, and always had a nice conversation. The food was great (every time) and the beer pleasant. I finally stayed here and was thoroughly satisfied with the room. It was a decent size and the shower was excellent, along with the bed. Internet was included in the room's price!! Nice staff - enjoyable location. Great breakfast in the morning! Highly recommended!! Parking is in the back of the brewery (and there is an overflow lot nearby.

Visited here in early June 2011. The bus 907 from Bamberg stops almost outside the Gasthof, though if visiting Memmelsdorf, it's worth getting off the bus at Schloss Seehof, to see the Palace, and then just a 15 minute walk into the village to the two brewpubs here!

Note that the 907 back to Bamberg does NOT stop opposite - you have to walk around the corner past the church and catch it outside the 'Rathouse'

A plain exterior does not give any impression of how attractive the inside Stube rooms are - very pleasant and cosy. Most impressive. There is a small courtyard at rear with beer garden under large umbrellas on a paved area. We sat outside and it was fairly quiet and very relaxing. There is a beer card menu listing three regular beers plus another five beers which are seasonal. The regular beers consist of a Keller style beer - Lager, a smoked beer Stoffla and a Weiss beer. We started on the Lager, which was really first class - clear and bright, very tasty and easy to drink. Was tempted to have another, but decided to try the Stoffla smoked beer. I am not normally much keen on 'rauch' beers but thought I should try it. First sip always comes as a surprise, smokey bacon flavours - but not too prominent. After a few more mouthfuls really enjoyed it, very smooth texture, tasty and easy to drink. My drinking partner had the Weiss beer and that was equally up to standard. The boss came and chatted to us, happy to have some English visitors! Beers were good price too, same as in Bamberg, around €2.40 a half litre.

The food menu looked good, though we did not eat here.

A very pleasant Gasthouse and Brewpub, highly recommended for the excellent beers and worth visiting.

I made a visit here on Sunday, 27SEP09. Very easy to find from the bus-stop, not even 2 minutes from where you're let off.

A formidable, yellow, three-story structure, with the third-floor and roof being red-tiled, with flowers springing from the lower floored windows. Entering, you are in a small foyer. On the left is a small display-case with some of their biers and awards they have garnered, plus some souvenirs you may wish to purchase. To the near-right is a small room with about 6 tables, each seating 6 to 8 people. Walls are split with dark wooded lower halves and light pastel uppers, plus old paintings and photos relating to the brewing process. Adjacent to the room on the right are stairs, leading up to guest rooms, and down to the toilet facilities. Through a door just after the display case is a room on the immediate left. It is a bright room and has a 1/2 dozen booths, all with light wood. Forgoing that Zimmer, you are in the main room with a service bar to the front/right, and about 4-5 tables to the left. The wood and feel here are a bit darker, and you'll encounter a huge, old-fashioned tile oven by the entrance. Should you care to continue walking, you'll go though yet another room, very bare and sparse, and then you get outside into their biergarten. I sat in the "main" room, on the wall, with the bar on the far side of my field of view. All-in-all, a lovely, traditional Franconian Stube.

At Drei-Kronen I had the pleasure of consuming the best Käsespätzle I have ever encountered. Fantastic!! As for their bier, I had their Stöffla, a smoked lager. They have a regular Hell, and a Pils, plus seasonals now and then. The bier was solid and tasty. Service was top-shelf; quick and on-the-spot. Had a chance to talk with the owner/brewer, Herr Straub. Very friendly and accomodating. Glad I finally got to get to this place, about 15-20 minutes outside of Bamberg. Zum Wohl!!
