I was walking around Pike Place Market with my wife, looking for somewhere different to eat. We walked by the Athenian, and I remembered seeing it listed on BA, so we gave it a shot. It's got an old-school diner/bar vibe. Kinda old looking, but the booth seats in the back give you a great view of the bay. Service was good, as our waitress was friendly and quick. Beer selection was great here for a PPM restaurant. Tons of bottles on the wall, but they were mostly imported (German, Belgian, Brit). The really attractive selection was on the draft list, which was for the most part NW beers. They had on tap: Big Al Brewing, Hales x 3, Widmer, Maritime x 2, Alaskan, Pike, Scuttlebutt, Mac & Jack, and Georgetown. I had the Alaskan Winter and the Big Al's Winter Warmer, and my wife had the Hale's Troll Porter. Only negative: all beer served in thick icy mugs, so ask ahead if you don't like frozen glasses. Beers were all $4.75, so a decent price in the market. Food was upscale Greek. I had the sausage gyro, and my wife had the salmon gyro. Tasty, but not world class cuisine here. If you walk to the back of the restaurant and turn left at the neon "bar" sign, you can sit at the bar and have a pint with a wonderful view behind you. I think the Athenian could be a great back-to-back stop with the Pike Brewery, where we headed for our next round of beers after lunch.

A: Just off the main drag inside the market upstairs is the Athenian. Also famously known for hosting Tom Hanks and Rob Reiner for a Sleepless In Seattle scene. The two stools at the entrance reflect it still with the names over the stools at the bar. Usually pretty busy but its larger than it appears. Walking in is a diner setup with seating at the back and then more seating uptairs overlooking the water. Bar is downstairs

Q: Very good

S: Nothing to complain about here

S: 12 craft NW taps from Hales, Fremont, Lazy Boy, Maritime P and so on. 4 taps dedicated to macro. Nice bottle selection of local and other craft breweries like New Belgium, ninkasi, Hales, Lazy Boy ect

F: Very good!

V: Differs, average to pricey. beers are reasonable
