Very dark brown. Thin beige head.
Sweet chocolate malt aroma.
Taste follows the smell. Lightly caramelised brown sugar.
Medium body which reflects the taste. Very smooth.
My kind of easy drinking stout.

Pours a dark almost black with a small quickly fading head. some light lacing. Aroma is of dark roasted malt, yeast and caramel malt, some mild notes of burnt toffee and caramel as it warms up. Taste similar to aroma with some mild espresso like bitterness from the roasted malt. A medium body with mild carbonation, smooth. Finishes with sweet roasted malt, caramel, moderately dry and some mild bitterness and light toffee caramel ending. Aroma and taste become more prevelant as it warms up. Overall a good, smooth and flavorful brew.

500 ml. bottle. Black colour with a big beige head that lingers for a while and leaves a great beige lace. Smell of hocolate, cofee, roasty, dark fruits, caramel, not much liquorice. Medium to light body, creamy palate. Taste is roasty, chocolate and caramel, coffee and dark frutis and liquorice is more noticeable. Good.500 ml. bottle. Chocolate black with garnet highlights with a pitted carpet of sepia froth that sheets.
Lots of cocoa nibs with ashy roast and a hint of black currant jam.
More charcoal roast with coffee grounds, maybe figs and mild tea and branch hops
Kola nut finish and drying linger. Medium heading to light, some cling, crisp.

Fairly one dimensional - that being roast - and a bit thin. Very much a session stout. Expected more by reputation.

A friend brought this back from England and I got a small glass of it. Black color, standard looking stout. Aroma is roasted malts, not bad, nothing special. The flavor was good, a little dry and chalky but some good malts. Mouthfeel was a bit watery. Overall, not bad but not great. I wouldn't buy a bottle of this if given the opportunity.

500ml bottle bought from The Vintage, Antrim..

Poured a deep dark brown... Creamy tan head poured thick and foamy then faded to thin layer... very little lacing..

Aroma - Strong coffee notes, roasted malts, slight smokiness, dark chocolate, light hop bitterness, leathery, woody, slight dustiness, peppery, aniseed hints...

Taste - Roasted malts, bitter chocolate, slight aniseed notes, coffee, dark fruits (light blackcurrents, prunes), faint nuttiness, earthy, some creaminess / milkiness, biscuity hints...

Feel - Quite smooth and creamy... Full body. Very drinkable...

Overall - An excellent example of good, straightforward, drinkable stout... highly recommended

500ml bottle. Pint glass. Enjoyed on decĀ“11. Pitch black with beige, large bubbled, froth. Close, quickly dissipated, crown. Yeast & toffee note aromas. Bitter upfront, slightly fizzy, followed by sweet malts & hints of coffee. Velvet palate. Light body, medium carbonation. Dry bitter finish & dark fruits on the aftertaste. A little more viscosity will be appreciated for a Stout.

A dark pitch black pint was presented to me throwing up aromas of chocolate malt and bonfire toffee.

The taste was superb a buttery expresso kick and well rounded aftertaste that slowly mellow with charcoal hints.

Most of all the real treat of a cask stout is something truly else.
To have the drink with all the complex elements of the rich malts
of course it takes a good brew to do this and entire stout is that.

Excited to see a Stout with the word hop in the name because that is just the way I roll. Not so much in the hop department but a decent stout nonetheless. Pours a rich black with a lacing one finger head into my Tusker pilsner glass. Head diss spayed quickly leaving me a nice coke float with hints of chocolate and coffee subjected by the malty dark cookoff. Body of this stout is medium not too filling. Great to go along with my not quite the black keys. Will probably pick up a few more in the future as winter rolls around.

500 mL brown bottle poured into a pint glass.

A: pure black/cola beer with no head--only a few bubbles from the pour.

S: roasted barely malt with a hint of cinnamon.

T: roasted barely malt with a very slight hint of strawberry fruit.

M: disappointing--like a flat cola

D: moderate drinkability. I had higher hopes for this but I'm currently unimpressed--would try again to give it another go.

500 ml

A - Pours a very dark amber color - not quite black and not quite totally opaque. Head formation is strong, mocha colored. Well retained. Carbonation appearance is light.

S - Slight hints of roasted barley - most chocolate in nature. No hops or yeast are noticeable.

T - Starts off rather flavorless, with only a light roasted note coming through. Mid-way gets more edgy with some coffee like balance - acidic tasting. Finishes with a bittersweet chocolate flavor, very smooth. Aftertaste is bitter.

M - Moderate to thin body - the backbone appears to be driven by its hefty carbonation. Does not leave a film on the tongue/mouth.

D - Fairly easy drinking beer - abv is in the sessionable range. For an english stout, I would find this beer very drinkable due to its smooth texture and not being very filling.
