Overall a good witbeer. I bought this beer when i was at the Bierloods in Adegem. Vacas opend the shop special for us (UncleJimbo, CRooney5787 and myself).

I bought this beer just for fun. the bottle is best before jan 2010 so that was a gamble...but it paid out well.

Poured in my Struise glass the beer has a nice yellow fluid with a white head, four fingers high.

The smell is a bit typical, like cleaning alcohol but not unpleasant. Light carbonation.

Still drinkable!

A: very pale and clearly blonde, thick foamy head.

S: a bit singlesided lemony smell.

T: sweet with a sour accent (lemon again), a bit like a cheap wine.

M/D: feels a bit thin in the mouth carbonation and alcohol level are right, and it's a very drinkable thing.

Overall a quite drinkable beer but nothing quite exceptional. Good thirstquencher

A: Cloudy yellow color with chunks, medium white head that lasts. Little lacing.
S: Aroma of bubblegum and gun metal, background of rising dough.
T: Flavor starts sweet then gets pretty bitter, some citrus and pepper, and a sourish finish. Jumble.
M: Average body.
D: One reviewer liked this one enough to take a few bottles home, but I beg to differ. Too much of an unusual mix that just doesn't quite work.

Pours a real light clouded yellow with a white head. Nose is almost chalky with no typical witbier character. Flavor is totally f-ing weird. It tastes like harshly carbonated lemonade. Really. If someone gave this to me blind, I'd guess that it was lemonata or something similar. Loads of lemon. Loads of acid. Feel is a sharp and piercing carbonation. Liquid is typical. This is one weird beer, man. Weird. Some people might like it, but I think this is a love it or hate it beer at best.

A murky, yellow beer with a thin, creamy head.

Smell of wheat and grains with spices. Notes of cardemom.

Taste is spicy with now clear cardemom notes. The beer appears to be like a witbier, but has a more earthy basetaste. I find on the internet it's made with raw unmalted barley. This works out well and the spice is different than the standard witbier spices. The earthy taste however is something that would start to bore me after a couple of glasses. Good beer though.

Appearance: hazy pale yellow color with a 1” head that falls quickly to a thick surface foam. Decent lacing develops during the session.

Smell: strong lemon zest and bananas are easily detectable.

Taste: the strong lemon and banana flavors follow from the nose, and throw in some more coriander and yeast spiciness to round it out. Overall there is some well hidden tartness and sugary sweetness.

Mouthfeel: lightly crisp from start to finish. Short aftertaste is dominated by strong lemon and banana flavors. Medium bodied.

Drinkability: very refreshing beer and quite easy to consume. Quite tasty on tap.

The beer arrived a lightly hazy pale yellow with a white, persistent and long lasting head which lasted very well to lace the glass.

The aroma was earthy with a muted coriander and a light lactic tartness in the nose. Also present was a light citrus comprised of lemons and oranges.

The flavor contained a light bit of wheat with a muted coriander and a light lactic tartness, as in the aroma, but the flavor was not overly sour. The tarness addded a nice layer of complexity to the flavor, especially when coupled with the softness of the wheat, the muted spice, and the light citrus.

The finish was lightly tart and drying with a pleasant bit of spice lasting into the aftertaste and beyond. The body was medium light with a creamy mouthfeel and a moderate carbonation level. A pretty good witbier.

Another hard to find brew discovered at the wine house. Although after all is said and done...maybe they can hide this better next time. Pale yellow color, small head and no retention to speak of.

Massive amounts of yeast. I was able to keep 90% of it in the bottle but its still worthy of note for those that find this bothersome. Very sweet aroma w/ an alcohol splash.

Pretty much the same in the taste. A slightly woody but annoying alcohol presence. Very sweet with a sourish backend. Carbonation is zippy. Its just an atrocious beer all told.

Notes: You couldn't force me to drink this ever again.

Presentation: 8.4 fluid ounce brown glass bottle. A white colored crown cap and a single label are all that self promote this beer. The single green, yellow and white label promotes the beer as “Vlas Kop Flax-Head” written around a picture of a chalice filled with golden beer. The words “Ale brewed with natural flavors” whatever the hell that means, and “Brewed in Flanders” finish the label. The obligatory Government Warning wastes more label space, whilst the strength is listed as 5.3% Alc/Vol in the bottom right hand corner. No freshness date. Supposedly a wheat beer.

Appearance: A really nice golden color with a thin off-white head that eventually breaks to leave a halo-like head after that. Although they do little to harm the beer, an immense amount of floating, chunk-like yeast particles detract from the overall appearance and spoil the beers otherwise good looks to be honest.

Nose: Awful, very sickly sweet odor that it is not to my liking and puts me off even trying to drink this beer.

Taste: Sweet beginnings that make way for a bitter finish. Some sourness and a sharp introduction make this beer rather unusual.

Mouthfeel: The swing from sweet to bitter and the carbonation levels help to maintain an average feel.

Drinkability: Pretty low actually, even putting the rather annoying chunky yeast to one side for a second, the sweet-bitterness does not work for me at all.

Overall: A different, rather unusual “wheat beer”, which has more sweet hoppy bitterness than most and a confused character. I have had this in Belgium, and it was only average at best then. But the offering in this Review bottle is particularly awful. Not to my liking at all. Confused and disappointing.

Vlas Kop “Flax Head” in a tiny brown bottle. Clear beer, with thick black chunks floating in it (presumably yeast). Thin, but dense white head, that has extremely tiny and fine bubbles. The aroma is very off putting, vinegar and sour milk aroma. Truly awful, with very bad tastes of cheap wine, and old flowers, with an aftertaste that reminds me only of alter wine, snuck after mass. It is literally undrinkable. Thank God it came in a small bottle, because I can throw it down the drain that much faster. Vlas Kop is Vlas Crap.

The body is pale gold with decent white fluffy head. Some lemon and esters on the nose. Taste has some wheat, clove and mild esters. A fairly blah beer. Little of the expected flavor of a wit. Claims to be different than the typical wit, and I'd be ok with that if only it did something good with the flavor instead of just making it boring.
