Notes / Commercial Description:
Hoppy Boy India Pale Ale is Twisted Pine Brewing Company’s flagship beer. With a rocky ivory head, star-bright golden orange color, and massive hop aroma, Hoppy Boy is the quintessential American IPA. Citrus, resin, and a hint of malt not only greet your nose, but also your taste buds, while a smooth, lingering bitterness leaves your palate refreshed with every sip. Hoppy Boy IPA is a perfect marriage of malts and hops that is as bold as it is balanced, and thus exemplifies what American craft beer is all about.

Pours a nice dark orange with minimal head. Good, long lasting lacing. Smell isn't as strong as a good IPAs but not bad. Tastes pretty much like a slightly watered down craft IPA.

Overall not a bad beer but I probably wouldn't buy it again unless there wasn't much to choose from.

Twisted Pine Hoppy Boy is a cloudy, orange- colored brew and a good pour creates a nice amount of foam that holds its own for a couple of minutes. The nose on this beer is one of bread, light hops, and toffee/caramel and not too bad, although not very pronounced either.

This is a bready IPA and a little milder than expected. There are flavors of bread, biscuits, pine, and some citrus in the background. A small amount of herbal character is there, too, and it’s a little more noticeable as the beer warms.

As for an IPA, this product isn’t has hop dominant as I expected and its mouthfeel is a little light. It isn’t a bad product at all, though- it just doesn’t rate as highly on my IPA scale as other examples of the style. Still good enough to at least try- some will like it, others will find it a tad too basic. I like it overall and it seems like a good beer to serve guests who are not usually accepting of IPA beers in general.
