Poured from the bottle into a glass.

Midnight black; some light passes at the edges.

HUGE dark khaki head; hard to pour. Decent lace.

HUGE chocolate milk nose; you can smell it across the room as soon as the bottle is open.
Medium/thick mouthfeel.

Strong chocolate milk flavor here; espresso hits you on the back end. Bold; tasty. Not an everyday beer but a nice one for cold winter days. By the best Twisted Pine I've had yet.

L: pour a thin black beer.
S: big coffee, nice bold aromas. Not bitter, but huge coffee and smells great.
T: like the nose, nice coffee. Lacks the intensity of an imperial coffe stout. But for 6%, very nice.
F: thin as expected, but very smooth.
O: a nice coffe stout with low abv

This is a pretty good coffee beer, but nothing special. I got tons of bitter coffee from the espresso, but the mouthfeel was crazy thin. It drank a lot more like an iced coffee than a coffee beer.

It's an interesting taste. I should've tried it in the spring when I usually bbq pork....making note.

Lots of brown, lesser black. I see that a lot with espresso beers. Giant head disappears quickly. Aroma didn't yield much in the way of coffee or espresso.

Some roastiness, could use more, could use more of everything I guess, malt bill left a thin mouthfeel for style. A little bit bitter and acrid. Needs some more chocolate, coffee, malt, thickness.

Got this in Buffalo during GABER 2015. Cheers gents!

From a bomber into a snifter
Stout with Peruvian coffee

APPEARANCE: The cap came off all too easily on this one. That's usually a troubling sign. Anyways, pours out opaque dark brown and yields a two finger, slightly looser, foamy, light tan head with decent retention. Black in the glass with piles and piles of carbonation evident. Piles. Again, a troubling sign. Head slowly fades to a foamy cap and leaves some foamy lacing down the glass. A ring and touches of wisp remain until the end with some falling dots of lacing. Too carbed, and it looks oxidized.

SMELL: Roasted coffee, light cream notes and some milk chocolate. Green pepper oxidization aromas too. Lots of espresso here but the cardboard gets in the way a bit.

TASTE: Not good. Roasted coffee up front with green peppers, cardboard and metallic flavors as well. More oxidized character after the swallow with a medium but lingering finish of metallic notes, peppers, cardboard, with notes of espresso coffee and some milk chocolate trying to peek through. Lousy.

PALATE: Thinner and high levels of carbonation. Prickly on the palate, goes down fine and finishes really dry.

OVERALL: Too bad there wasn't a bottled on date here. There's definitely some potential in this recipe, but the lousy cap job served to turn this one into an oxidized horror film. Drain enjoyed most of this one. I'd gladly try another batch of this, but will have to wait at least a year to make sure I don't get the same batch as this one. Blech.
