22oz brown bomber with no freshness date, vintage date though.

LOOK: Thin wispy lace, hazed tawny hue.

SMELL: Orange rind, pink peppercorn, spicy rye, nutty, biscuity, figs, bready

TASTE: Orangey hop, semi-creamy, a bit thick, toasted bread, rye spice, estery, prunes, husky, crackers, assertive hop bitterness, toasty bitter semi-dry finish

This ale appears bigger than it is, very bold. While not the most drinkable brew... Worth a visit.

Had this beer on tap at Proof in Tallahassee. A nice red color with a thick 2 inch white head.

Smells of citrus, hops and a little bit of spice. One of the first Rye beers I have ever had.

The taste is lots of rye spice and citrus. Goes down really well. I really like this beer but I am a fan of Rye beers.

Received this in a nice trade with Doppelbockulus.. Thanks a ton Charley!!

Poured into my HotD goblet.. The brew is slightly hazed amber on the first pour and more hazed on later pours... the tan head shows okay retention and lacing..

Big citrusy hoppiness in the nose.. dark toast and dry caramel maltiness... smells like a fairly aggressive drier amber ale.

Flavor has the same zesty hoppiness and again, the malts really don't jump out but are minor dark toast/sorta earthy rye.. nice hop flavor toward the finish is carried by a light caramel essence and then a lingering dry hop bitterness carries on for a while.

Body is a surprising medium.. carbonation is spritzy, but sorta light... not much going on here.. I expected more given the maltiness.

Pretty well done... Sorry Charley???? No pun intended :-) ,pulled this one out to share with my brother.

Ruby-red body; thick, creamy off-white head. Malt and spice aromas; rich grain. Taste comes across with a nice mixture of sugary grain notes, a bit of rye spiciness, and a good dose of medium bitterness. Medium bodied, rich with good tingling carbonation; sugary body.

A pretty decent rye beer offering. Nothing awe-inspiring overall, yet a good all-around rye beer.

Served on tap at the brewery.

A: Dark red with a nice two-inch white head that dissipates quickly to a film. Lots of yeast floating around, very hazy.

S: Malty and subtle, very earthy. Nothing too spectacular going on here.

T: Lots of rye, malt up front, bitter back end. There's also a distinct bitter yeast taste throughout. At first the bitterness of this was off putting, after a few sips it was nice and added to the complexity.

M: Creamy and light. Nicely carbonated with enough body to keep me happy on a hot day.

Overall: This is a really good rye ale. I go to Twisted Pine mainly for the atmosphere and people, but this is one of the best beers I've had here.
