I live around the corner from common table and have been going here for years. After my last few trips, ive decided it needs an honest evaluation.
Vibe- for dallas its pretty chill, not great, but its good especially for uptown where most places are just crammed with Frat bros
Service- I honestly often have great servers, but the bartenders can range from amazing to down right awful. Last night the lady serving was basically grunting at me instead of using words
Selection- So on any given night the beer selection is mediocre to decent. For special events it can be amazing. I really like that they have 10 and 20 ounce pours, and the prices are decent. They have a special bottle list, but they dont actually have most of those bottles on a given night.... so yeah
Food- Ive had some great food hear (P.I.G) to some of the worst (they literally served us rotten mussels). So im not giving them a great score here
Overall- I go here alot. Its got a decent patio, craft beer, and its close to my house. For Dallas its pretty decent, but i feel compared to beer bars in most other cities, it kind of sucks

The only thing holding this place back is the unremarkable food (but typical for a pub) and the average service. Otherwise, at least last night, the beer selection was very impressive. Parabola was served as part of their 3rd anniversary celebration, but as if that wasn't enough, Victory at Sea was on tap along with a nitro bourbon barrel aged sweet stout from a local, Lakewood Brewing. Several other offerings I've had before on tap, but most of them bigger beers at 8% and up. Service was ok, but the bartenders were not terribly chatty and were slow at times to notice my empty glass. A little on the hipster side too. Still, a solid option and perhaps the best one yet that I've experienced in my many visits to Dallas.

You can not beat the selection of tapped beers. 25 beers on tap. Food is good quality. Very good atmosphere. For a traveler looking for a good craft beer establishment, this was right on. Found Common Table by searching BA. There was a Firestone brewery TX debut here while I was in town, couldn't attend, but they tapped Abacus and Double Jack. Can't beat that. I had a 2010 Big Foot Ale, which was great and smoothly aged. If you're looking for great craft beer establishment, this can not be beat. One thing more, use the valet parking.

went here twice during a trip to Dallas. once for their Monday beer dinner and another time just ordered off the menu.
The beer selection is very strong and varied. great local representation and respectable imported and national offerings. The food is absolutely fantastic and isn't horribly priced for the quality and atmosphere.
The service was horribly lacking though. first time, when we asked the server if they could call us a cab we were told to do it ourselves. when we told them were from out of town and asked the phone number they said, "don't you have an iPhone?". the second time, we did the four course beer dinner and it was all brought out in under 45 minutes. courses we being brought out before we had even finished the one in front of us.
so great food and beer. horrible service.

I agree with the previous post, this place should be in the high 90's. The Common Table may only have 20+ taps but they are always pouring an awesome selection of beers. Id rather drink here than any other bar in DFW! I used to frequent the Flying Saucer but the past year and a half i find myself visiting TCT more and more. The bartenders are always quick and friendly, and the food is amazing. Prices are very reasonable, especially on "Brewsday Tuesdays". This is a must stop for anyone visiting Dallas looking for great beer and an awesome atmosphere!!!

For the life of me I don't know why this place is rated an 86. In my opinion it's closer to a 186. I've spent 1/3rd of my life drinking some of the best beers on earth, working for maybe the best and getting paid to drink some mighty fine ones. The beer experience at The Common Table is unsurpassed. I've never found a place in N. America that consistently exceeds all my expectations - be it the Green Dragon or Horsebrass in Portland or the Tornado in SF (appologies to Jim, Don and Dave). The Table ALWAYS has something I've never heard of and that totally blows me away. Tuesday Oct. 23 they will dedicate their taps to 2012 GABF medal winners and their bar to the brewers that brew them. I can't think of a better reason to drive 200 miles for a beer unless it's to drive 1,600 for a Marble. Cheers and condolences to you who cannot make it to the Table Tuesday or at least once in your life.

The wife and I were talking to the sweet bartender over at Ginger Man and when I asked her about another good beer destination around the area she didn’t hesitate: Common Table. “Their selection is better”, she shushed.
So there we went, a five-minute walk from Ginger Man in that same “Uptown” area of Dallas that is… whatever. Common Table offers 24 taps and a more upscale atmosphere than Ginger Man, but without overdoing it. The bartender is still friendly, and the bar flies will chat you up when “craft beer” is overheard in the conversation. I think I like these Dallasites! Y’all so damn nice.
The focus here is on rarer handles. No Guinness on tap here! Left Coast Hop Juice (had and loved it, malty and biscuity), New Belgium LOF Fresh Hop, Dogfish 90, St Arnold Elissa IPA, Deep Ellum Darkest Hour Imperial Stout (local brew, had it and loved it), Sierra Ruthless Rye, Sierra Bigfoot, Southern Star La Mort Vivant (a rare local saison). The bottle selection is similarly obscure and enticing, what with Mikkeller/FFF “Bitch Please”, Draft Bear and Worse plus Brewdog Tokyo among many others.
The food looks sorta like upscale pub grub, not terribly attractive and a little pricey but hey, didn’t try, so who knows. They have cool cocktails with names such as “Tito’s visits Moscow” and “Fabrizio” (drummer for the “Strokes” band).
Service is very nice (beer nerd knows his shit) and prices are a little high, but this is quality stuff so it is understandable. $5 for our half pints, $8-$9 for full serving. I loved “Common Table” and will return next time I’m in Dallas. Quantity over quality!!

Went this past Saturday night. Lots of empty tables with 'Reserved' signs on them but we were sill seated rather promptly. Big porch out front and a nice feel in side. I'd say it fits right in with the whole Uptown Dallas scene. Place quickly filled up and by 8 the place was hopping.
Service was prompt, friendly and overall damn good. Our waitress was able to answer my general questions about the beers and even made a few recommendations to others at our table. Beers and food were served quickly. Never sat with an empty beer unless I chose to.
Beer list was nice but nothing earth shattering. A better taplist than you will find at all but a few of the restaurants in Dallas. A few rarer taps but nothing that I have never seen anywhere else before. Bottle list was rather extensive but I never ventured down that road.
Food was decent enough but nothing spectacular. A few interesting takes on different dishes which were fun. Everybody at our table was satisifed with their orders. My only complaint would be that the portions were a touch small given the price, but I was in Uptown so it is about par with anything else in the area.
All in all I really enjoyed the Common Table and I would certainly recommend it to anybody. The next time I am in Dallas it will certainly be on my list of places to go back to.

So I haven't written a review in ages... but then I saw Common Table's "B-" average and pretty much shat myself in disbelief.
In all seriousness, this is my go-to bar in Dallas. I don't know anyone in the Dallas beer scene that tries as hard as Corey and his staff. They have excellent, affordable beer dinners, rare beer tappings, visits from brewery reps, and beer festivals. Add to that they're starting an extensive cellaring program, and you can see why it's easy for a beer enthusiast to love this place.
Atmosphere: Very cool, laid back atmosphere... I love the patio... can't wait for it to cool down again so it's tolerable.
Quality: I have never had to question whether the tap lines were clean. Beer is always served in appropriate glassware and usually at the appropriate temp.
Service: I have almost always found the service to be great. I can only think of one time where I waited any significant amount of time for a server, and then I went up to the bar to get my own. Some waitstaff are more beer-knowledgable than others, but all in all they all seem to be pretty enthusiastic about beer.
The selection is solid and rotates regularly. Do they have as many taps as the Moth? No, but everything they have is quality.
Lastly, their food is very solid... especially during their beer dinners, when it is exceptional.
All in all, I would recommend this place to anyone, beer connoisseur or not... can't wait to start drinking some cellared stouts and barleywines!

Always heard good things about the common table and when they got Dallas' only keg of dogfish bitches brew it seemed like a great time to check it out. The place is cool, love the slick decor inside and the patio is a perfect tree covered oasis. Everything is downhill from there.
The selection is slim to say the least. If not for the dogfish tasting day they wouldn't have nearly the selection I'd expect from a good beer bar. The service was atrocious. It took 40 mins from when we placed our order until we got our drinks. Not only that but the beer flights we ordered were not the right beer and the server didn't even know which ones were which. They had a Randall the enamel animal running 90min through some fresh hops. The only problem was the type of hops used. The bartender says they were using willamette, which is a English ale hop. Not complimentary to the IIPA and frankly ruined the beer. Its like they have no knowledge of the beer they sell and promote. Awful, awful experience.
The food was average and I have to say my grilled cheese was quite tasty. The problem is the two others that were ordered at the table came out Luke warm with not even melted cheese. So based on that the food can be hit or miss. The prices aren't unreasonable for the area but with the lack of service and poor selection makes them not worth the price.
I would NOT recommend this place to anyone and I can't see ever going back.

Stopped by for an early dinner and beer on a Sunday afternoon.
Great looking place, upscale but comfortable, very nice patio area.
All the beer and food were top notch so full scores on quality.
Have to report a ding on service. Place was pretty dead but our server was split between multiple tables. Took a while to get our orders in, and took forever to get a beer, in fact our beer beat our food by 5 seconds. Little glitches on our orders too, I didn't get one of the beers I ordered on the pick your own flight, our server mentioned he hadn't seen one of my selections in a bit, I think he just switched it out and didn't update me. Also pushed one of the prepackaged flights on my friend, but didn't name the beers in the flight. The men's room was out of towels as well for the close to 2 hours we hung out. All in all, picky kind of complaints, but given the costs involved here, I'm expecting a higher level.
Selection is very well thought out and very nice examples of what we can get in Texas. The Live Oak Hefe was exceptional. Not a ton of choices, but again, high quality ones.
Food was very tasty, had the pulled pork sandwich and thinking about it is making me hungry again.
Value; it's high end quality and that comes at a price. $50 for a burger, sandwich, couple of flights and a full beer. Factor in valet, and tip, well, it's not an everyday destination.
Bottom line, glad I went and will visit again.

Stopped by as part of a Dallas pub crawl. First ding - parking is very limited and when I pulled up to Valet he told me he wasn't taking any more cars as he had a gig in Frisco later that night and needed to eat before he worked again! So, I parked semi-illegally and hoped not to be towed. The beer selection is decent, but at the prices charged I don't think I will ever return (there are places closer with a better selection with reasonable prices). It is upscale, has a nice patio out front, and from what others in the group said the food was pretty good.

went to the common table last night... they posted they had Racer X, so I went. nice little place, expensive as hell though... but I understand why. They had about 20 people working, and as soon as I put my fork down or took a sip of water the fork was gone, or the water was full. I had 4 different appetizers, and had 5 different plates for them, I am not even sure how that happened!! Everyone is very nice that works there. The crowd is more of the elder hipsters (40ish) that can actually afford this place. I cant imagine going there often, it would bankrupt me! $15 for a draft beer, while great beer, is still out of my league. Nice rotating draft selection, and they do get some nice stuff in, like the racer X. Worth a stop in, but cant possibly frequent.
