Pours a cloudy, yet vibrant yellow golden color with white head. Pine, citrus, raw wheat, and yeast on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied and chewy. Finishes with cotrus and wheat.

Thanks again to BlackElixir for this, a 22 oz. bottle in my continuing cross-section of Black Husky brews. Split with my wife, newly returned from being indoctrinated towards yet another degree.

The pour is very light opaque yellow, with flecks of stuff that quickly succumb to gravity & sink to the bottom to form a layer of sediment that it would be fun to mine in about 3 million years. Lots of head. The nose is light: nice lemon, grainy chaff, not much else.

Schutzengel tastes like honeycomb. Big honeyed sweetness wipes away any thought of this being an IPA, because it’s not. Underneath the bee puke is damp earth, wheat germ. No hops. Easy enough to drink, which is about the kindest thing one can say about it.

If one scored this to style, it might warrant a negative rating. As is, not much to it, just beer. Mediocre.
