Notes / Commercial Description:
Our first take at a fruit beer, this highly limited beer (360 litres!) was aged with a heavy percentage of raspberries on our Zure van Tildonk. A successful test which we will do again!

Open with caution, the cork pops out strongly on this one. Nevertheless, the beer inside stayed still.
A: Cloudy orange in color, pink glints are really faint. The foam is small and fizzy, it doesn't last for long. It doesn't look like so many raspberries were added there.
S: The nose confirms this first impression. Raspberry is there but hidden behind multiple layers of other aromas : wood, funk, rust, cardboard and unwanted artificial sugar. Smell is really reminiscent of an old sweetened raspberry lambic. Not very pleasing.
T: Taste is better than expected from the nose. Saccharose is there too but happily masked by raspberry jam, some tartness and woodiness. Not very long on the palate but still quite sweet on the aftertaste.
M: Mouthfeel is good, smooth with a medium/high carbonation. It makes the brew refreshing.
O: This is something quite drinkable, sour and fruity, but the artificial flavors destroy it for me. What a pity.

The beer is a light brown-tan color with a little bit of pink to it. The head is cream-colored, maybe a little pink there, too. Cloudy liquid. Small, fairly fizzy head, dies away pretty quickly. The aroma has a light kick of raspberry jam and too much oddball cough medicine flavor. It’s a little vinous. Medium oakiness. Some cherries and a little citrus. The cough medicine flavor just gets in the way of it all for me. The taste doesn’t let up on that flavor but it’s a bit better integrated into the other aspects of the beer. Mildly tart. Sour but not aggressively so. Quite oaky. Not a ton of depth to it. Light funk. That phenolic cough medicine flavor just really hurts things for me. Light pucker. Oaky finish. Fizzy feel. Fairly light.
