According to German tradition, this full-bodied beer was brewed during the month of March with additional hops added in the brewing process to enhance the aroma. The special malt gives Red Rock an amber color and a taste you’ll love to hoist. Try one today!

Draft pint at Barley's Casino in Henderson, NV. Clear dark gold color with small white head. Not much aroma, a bit of grass and mineral. Unbalanced taste, a bit too sweet, not enough hop bitterness. Maybe an appeal to macro drinkers? Not unpleasant just not particularly good.

On tap at the Wildfire on Boulder Highway. Very nice copper color, somewhere between opaque and translucent. Beer is a little flat, with a tinny aftertaste. I picked this because the only other things on tap were macros; I might jump into the Bud Light after this.

Other Station Casino properties have very strong selection of pops on-tap. WF needs to step up.

Served on tap in a 20 oz mug

Appearance – The beer pours a nice copper color with a one finger off white head. The head fades over a moderate amount of time leaving a lighter level of lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma is bready and sweet with lots of caramel and toffee aromas as well as a little bit of a light fruit aroma of apple and a little bit of grassy hop.

Taste – The taste begins big of caramel malt mixed with some lighter grainy and more mildly toasted bready tastes. The caramel remains strong throughout the taste and is joined by some fruitiness. Toward the end a more floral and grassy hop flavor joins the profile creating a rather sweet but somewhat still balanced flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel- The body of the beer is average in thickness and has a carbonation level that is on the slightly higher side. Both are rather nice for the lightly roasted flavors as well as the sweetness of the brew.

Overall- A tasty and rather enjoyable red with a nice enjoyable flavor pallet.

Appearance: reddish-copper in color with a short 1/2" head that falls quickly. A spot or two of lacing sticks to the glass.

Smell: weak malt and fruity sweetness is all that can be detected.

Taste: decent malt profile, caramel, soft plum sweeteness, and mild bitterness make up a pleasant session beer.

Mouthfeel: smooth from start to finish. Mild short-lived malty aftertaste. Medium bodied.

Drinkability: easy to quaff. Definite session beer that won't leave you bored after a few sips - but not a marzen that will blow you away.

Presentation: Sampled on draft at Barley’s Casino and Brewing Co. as part of a Sampler during a visit with fellow BA UncleJimbo. Listed on the brewpub blurb as ‘Red Rock’, and described as a Red Lager.

Appearance: Dark red body wit light brown hints depending on the angle of the light falling on it. Thick creamy white head that had a dirty white look at the edge, this brew really changes its appearance depending on what the viewing angle is. Nice conditioning, this never lost its head even in the Sampler glass.

Nose: Sharp aromas, they are clean but harshly cut the nose with biting hops and acidic malts. Rather strange nose, you know it’s a Red but it retains some lager malt character that does tend to balance the more acerbic former character.

Taste: Lots of hop character in this, light malts are dominated by a sharp hoppy middle that lingers. Classic Red, but has a good “well made” feel to it that will add some attraction to those of us that are not huge Red fans. The fresh raw hoppy feel is an appealing facet.

Mouthfeel: Thick feel to this one, the hops and alcohol add quit a bit here. I was surprised how good this one felt.

Drinkability: Above average but I have to qualify my mark with the fact that I’m no fan of Reds, typically I would struggle to get excited, but this one was rather nice and I found that its character grew on me, especially the harsh hop character, I rather enjoyed that.

Overall: This was well made and I could easily have supped a couple of Pints of this one for sure. For the regular brews, this is second only to the Hefeweizen.

This oktoberfest style beer poured a red-amber color with white foam that left some lace. The smell was a modest malty aroma. The taste was slightly sweet caramel malt, with a mild floral hop finish. The body was medium. The mouthfeel was smooth, clean, and creamy, with medium-low carbonation, and a pleasant aftertaste. This lager was very easy to drink.

Re-reviewed on 4/23/03, and the review was edited, and the numbers improved.
