On cask during the Holiday Ale festival at Pratt Street Ale House.

The pours a slightly hazy, pink, orange, amber color with fairly decent head retention and fair lacing. The nose is impressive in this beer, as I get considerable sour funk, light vingar and what spells like a blend of raspberry and blueberries. The flavor profile replicates the nose, and I felt as if the fruit nicely buoyed the sour component in this beer. The finish was a bit weak in this beer, but over all, I thought this a pretty good effort from DOG, and this would probably be a good beer for someone to try who is just getting into sour beers (my notes refer to this as a "training wheels" sour). I think the beer information at the fest indicated an abv. in the 6.5% range, which sounds about right, based on what I tasted.

Not bad at all...

Tart cherry ale aged with French Oak

A - Served with a clear, cherry tinted body...the head was white and bubble and stood two finger retained to a ring of bubbles and left some patches of lacing

S - Berry notes of raspberry, hints of sweet cherries, and oak tannins...not much tartness coming off the nose, but it is promising

T - And here's the bad part...the flavor starts with some puckering notes, which is fine...tart cherries are doing their thing...there is no oak flavor to be found...after the fruity flavor starts to recede their is a huge blast of watered down beer...the puckering instantly goes away and you are left with a watered-down Kool Aid flavor

M - Medium bodied...watered down, no oaky finish...slight berry coming through

O - This beer started off with some high's like they took this pretty good ale and added a lot of water to it because they didn't like the tartness...I'm going to be skeptical with DOG Brewing beers from here on out
