The best beer I've ever tasted. Had 10 oz. pour on tap at the growler cafe in Lebanon, OR 1/2/15. This is my fourth time tasting notorious over the past 3 years and each has been one of my most memorable moments tasting beer. The rest I cannot put into words. You have to try for yourself.

Taste: Malty, extremely hot. Overall: More of a unbalanced barley wine than an IPA.

So good. Had at the Boneyard plant in Bend. Pours a nice copper color and a decent head. Hops and hops and hops. Well balanced and flavorful - completely surprised by this since it was 11%. Great carbonation which was nice on a hot day. Great beer which I will keep a lookout when I can

Major thanks to John for this extra!

Decanted from a 32oz. growler into a Deschutes teku (I know, blasphemy, but I don't have a Boneyard glass yet). Translucent amber with a full finger of white head (held up amazingly after a week in the growler), which retains as a ringlet, lacing the glass nicely. Blast of fresh, juicy, West Coast hops in the aroma! Pine, oily grapefruit and orange, pineapple, cat pee, marijuana..it's pretty much hops all the way. More of the same in the taste, dank, rindy, citrus oils, tropical fruits, ammonia, pot; there's a definite sweet caramel malt base that can't be avoided, but unlike many DIPAs or "TIPAs" that turn into malt-bombs when the brewers try for that higher ABV, the malt profile here is very tame and the hops stay fully in charge. So I'd say the malt character is "quite appropriate." Speaking of ABV, I would never have guessed this at 12%...I mean there is some booziness for sure, and yeah, I'm definitely feeling the strength already, but tastewise, the alcohol intrusion is relatively moderate. Medium body, crisp but unctuous mouthfeel, moderate carbonation, slightly "sticky" in the aftertaste. This harkens back to the first time I tried Pliny the Younger, and I dare say I like this one better than PtY in the past 2 or 3 years. I want more of this...a lot more.

Tasted at the brewery and from a 32 growlerette. Beer was just tapped and about as fresh as it gets.

A: poured into a snifter with a nice white head, orange-amber hue, very clear

S: Green, pine, dank resiney hops jump out of the glass. Pure expression of hop. Just hints of a sweet malty base.

T: Hops dominate early until a strong sweetness takes hold. Pleasant bready caramel malt flavors are strong in the middle, with a really long finish of more (and more) piney hops. Oh the hops really shine in this one!

M: Definitley on the heavy, slightly sweet side. But I guess that should be expected in a huge triple IPA.

O: If you like hops, then you'll like this beer. If you like big, resinous, pine flavors, then you'll love this beer. Maybe not a PtY killer, but pretty dang close and available in growlerettes to go!
