After having RPM a couple years ago, I've been craving more Boneyard beers. Growler picked up from the Beer Junction in West Seattle yesterday. Tasted 23 May 2015.

Pours a hazy medium orange amber. 1.5 fingers of whitish head, great retention, big and little bubbles persist until I finish the glass, with fingers and islands of lacing reaching up.

Smell is packed with fruity aromatic hops. Some soft sweet citrus, but it's mostly big tropical aromas, pineapple, guava. Outstanding.

The taste is the true beauty of this beer. It's full of those aromatic hops - I can't recall tasting a beer with this much tropical fruit in the flavor. This is something I don't understand, how the rare hoppy beer is packed with those aromatics, but most are dominated by acids. Anyway, I'm loving this. It's sort of ambiguous fruit, juicy, pulpy, and sweet, but it doesn't match up with anything I've had. Apricot x mango is the closest I can come up with. Bitter, and I can tell there's a lot, but it's balanced so thoroughly by malt sweetness that it feels gentle.

Feel is excellent. Medium-bodied, leaning to heavy. Carbonation is medium-low, just enough to stir things up without hiding them. Lasts just long enough for the bitter to rise out, then fade and dry up.

This is a beautiful beer. One of my top 3 DIPAs, with Abrasive and Heady. Though I think I'd pick those over Hop Venom, side-by-side I might prefer this, due to the incredible hop flavors and the smooth balance.

The nose is present with citrus. Quick dissipating head, yet lingers. Body is delicious with citrus and finish with a slight spike of hops. HOP VENOM!

Tasted on tap at the Bistro dipa fest. Mix of orange and yellow colored beer, lots of pine in the aroma jumbled up with tropical fruit. Good stuff.

The alcohol is amazingly hidden in this one. Super cracker dry light malt bill, heavy hop flavor with pretty low levels of bitterness to this one. Boneyard delivers once again. Mouthfeel just keeps hitting you with waves of mango, pine and grapefruit. Never heavy. Seems like a lot of citra, amarillo and simcoe in the beer. A little sugar to dry it out probably. A real delicious beer.

keg tapped recently for 32oz fill @ valley growler
The beer pours a coppery amber color with a light, off-white head that settles quickly to a ring that tightly clings to the perimeter. The nose is candied pineapples when cold, but it quickly sinks its teeth in - a mix of booze and citrus. There's also malty sweetness that picks up in the nose as it warms. The taste is clean with a good amount of candy-like sweetness to balance out the generous hop profile. The fruit profile doesn't change much compared to the nose - tropical fruits mainly, but it's also thick with malt. This is easily medium bodied, but is well carbonated to break up the heaviness of the malt and palate-saturating hops. Although sweet (perhaps overly) and hoppy, there is a distinct booziness in the finish that's unmasked. This is a good DIPA, but I'm more content with RPM

On tap at Toronado Seattle. Served in an odd 10-12 ounce sort of shaker glass.

Lacy, oatmeal-colored head. Settles into a film of lace over the body. Copper body with perfect clarity. 4.5

Smells of orange and grapefruit. Citrus-heavy but not particularly remarkable. 3.75

A somewhat must orange and grapefruit flavor prevails. Seems muted and contained. Could Toronado be serving an old keg? Tough to say but this isn't awe-inspiring. Caramel and malty sweetness complements the fruity citrus but it's still a bit muddied. 3.5

Definitely thick-bodied. Feels DIPA-ish. Malt is prominent in feel for sure. Tangy citrus feel up front and then becomes grainy. 3.5

Not sure what the deal is but this isn't that impressive. Will revisit.
