Where's the head?? Aggressive pour results in barely any head! Oh well. Color is a murky copper-orange, not exactly an entirely beautfiul looking beer, but you don't buy beer for it's looks. Smell is more malty and sweet; toasty grains, bread, some earthy qualities, a little metallic. Taste really amps up the toasy malts, very bready, very mildly sweet with an equalizing herbal hopiness. Quite an interesting taste, I like it quite a bit. The taste really come together pretty well, although it might be a bit strong for more than two or three in a sitting. Mouthfeel is a bit rough, surprisingly bigger bodied, too.

Totally decent beer from my former hometown of Loveland. One of the first craft breweries there; I've been wanting to try this beer for a while. Not bad, not bad.

12 oz can. Pours slightly hazy ruby amber with a small off white head that quickly goes to a thin collar.

The aroma is toasted caramel malts with a little roast.

The flavor is sweet, toasted caramel malts and a little apple with some roast and a lot of bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, decent alt - toasted caramel and toffee malts with quite a bit of hop bitterness.

16oz pint at the brewpub in Loveland, Colorado.

This beer appears a clear medium bronzed amber hue, with one finger of thinly foamy, wispy off-white head, which leaves little in the way of lace in the vicinity of the glass.

It smells of bready, crackery malt, a hint of lemon peel, a bit of ash, and earthy hops. The taste is more gritty bready caramel malt, some apple and citrus fruitiness, and earthy, leafy hops.

The carbonation is a tad fizzy, with an underlying foaminess, the body a sturdy medium weight, and somewhat clammy in its smoothness. It finishes on the dry side, the malt losing any bready sweetness, and the hops remaining earthy, and kind of musty.

A rather pleasant Alt, the malt kept tight to the chest, while the fruit and hops put their heads down and do their background jobs. Something to sip on for a while, should that occasion arise, at least until the heretofore undetected alcohol comes into play.

Pours a honey-orange color with a 3 finger head, leaving mountainous lace behind as it recedes slowly. Opacity clocks in at about 80%.

Aromas of stale grains and wet cardboard; it actually reminds me of Budweiser's Batch Twelve. A touch of cardamom and brown sugar.

Super hoppy and super sweet at the same time - not a good combination. Sharp stale hop stabs the palate simultaneously as waves of brown sugar, brine, and dill weave in and out. Yucky.

Feel is mostly watery with a little carbonation to help it down. Ends wet with a touch of parchment dryness.

Little Red Cap is an utter drain pour and tastes like an expensive malt liquor and has absolutely no redeeming qualities. The artwork is 500x better than the liquid inside. Never again. Scrub my tongue.

Pours a clear amber, deep red with a small off-white head that lingers.

Smells of slight bready/biscuit and lager sulfur (not out of balance). Also has some subtle earthy/herbal character.

Taste is up front rich, caramel malt that continues through the middle before ending on a slightly bitter finish that leaves notes of cherry and grapefruit. Caramel and slight cherry fruit flavor stand out the most.

Light to medium body and medium carbonation makes the beer quite drinkable.

Pretty nice beer overall. I enjoy the way it balances an interesting malt and hop profile without being overly complex; it makes for a beer you can have multiple of.
