12 ounce can. German Porter, eh?

It's certainly black enough and with an easy pour, has a nice smallish head of tan foam. Lacing? Yep.

It smells roasty, kind of fruity in a weird way, I get some hop profile and milky? Oh and smokey...

The roast starts things off then goes to a sweetish direction that I *think* leans towards a milk stout like thing. A bit of hop bitterness of the nondescript type moves in and out with each sip. As far as fruity, could be my misinterpretation of what the hops are doing. It finishes as roasty as it starts. Good for that and the mild smoke I get.

Pretty light bodied for the style with light carbonation. The foam is now completely gone.

It *does* taste Germanic to a degree. Enough for me to like it a lot. Prost Grimm Brothers!

My first review, it will be fitting to be the first review for this beer. Sampled at the brewery. They explained it as a "German Porter" which is a bit sweeter and coffee and chocolate flavor. I think they hit it on the head. A black colored beer with a soft tan head. Smell is sweet with a noticeable chocolate and coffee aroma. The taste is the same. Some sweeter grainy notes but very good. I really liked this beer. Kind of has a milky finish.

Very smooth American Porter. No bite, velvety finish. Hints of espresso. More like a German style porter. Not much of a head. Smooth enough for a summer evening. Very easy to drink, almost sessionable. Not what I expected. Will most likely try this one again.

22 oz bomber courtesy of SalukiAlum pours an opaque black color with a fluffy cap of tan head. Retention and lace are just ok.

Nose is dusty chocolate, leafy hops and a light hazelnut aroma. Smells good

Taste is good too, I love a good English Porter and this is a good rendition. The old world hops (Hallertau maybe?) are a nice touch and give it an earthy leafy character. The yeast gives off some complimenting nuttiness to go along with the cocoa and roast. Everything works well with each other and the ABV is well integrated. This would be a regular in my rotation if it were readily available here.

Poured on-tap at the brewery and served in a shaker pint, the beer is a ruby highlighted, brown to black coloring, with a dark tan, fluffy head. Nose of roasted bitter coffee, molasses, chocolate notes, and an overall toasted character. Flavors are smoky and roasted forward, with a campfire character, bitter coffee and cocoa nib, and a dry, light body. The aftertaste is bittersweet chocolate, with a remaining smoke presence. Light, smooth, smoke lingering finish.
