22 ounce bottle into a stange.

Pours a good looking caramel color, a little cloudy, with a big head and some lacing. Smell leads with malt, then caramel, yeast, toffee, light brown sugar, light herbal/earthy hops. Taste also leads with malt, but the caramel gives it a run. Some yeast, some herbal hop bitterness throughout. Smooth, well carbonated, solid body, crisp and refreshing.

Great example of the style- albeit with a pretty torqued ABV for the style, flavorful and enjoyable.

Deep orange/amber body; somewhat cloudy, perhaps due to massive amounts of rising carbonation; thick, chunky, dirty white head. Caramel and brown sugar aroma; dark fruit sweetness. Caramel flavors; boozy; oak. Heavy body; velvety; mostly sweet finish.

I found only one bottle in the beer shop and from what I can tell, this beer was released in August 2012 per a press release dated August 6, 2012. It's not listed on their current website and is labeled as release no. 1 of their Fabled Fermentation Series. So, this may be a beer that's several years old. But, hey, it has a certain big beer appeal. It's rich and sweet caramel and toffee flavored brew with a nice counterbalance of boozy heat. The alcohol does stand out and does linger a bit, but it's still quite drinkable. An interesting find and one I'd visit again, especially for a cold, wet weather sipper...

This is a older bottle from the 2013 release. Pours a mostly clear dark amber color with mahogany hues through out. A soft white head with good retention.

The nose is soft but complex. Malt forward with notes of caramel, malt balls and graham crackers. Some esters with plums and raisins. Some brown sugar notes as well. Very clean and has held up well.

The taste is similar but more expressive. Malt forward but the hops come out vs the nose, which was pretty much non-existent. The malt is noticeable which a great kettle caramel backing and a soft graham cracker note as well. But the esters come out more with a plums and tropical fruit mix. Some minor pineapple but overall clean.

The body is moderate and boarder mod full with the sweetness and fruity ester notes. Overall a pretty good beer with some good age on it.
